Fixed. Thanks!ElPatron said:Magazines.Battleaxx90 said:and notice a small handgun, as well as a few clips of ammunition for it.
Those are called magazines.
Not sure if I'm late to the party, but you placed emphasis on her khaki. Clearly she's a field agent of some kind.Battleaxx90 said:See that part I bolded? However, in your scenario, I'd shoot the man, give the pistol to the woman (if she can load it she can damn well learn to shoot it) grab the rifle off the man plus whatever ammo he may be carrying, and start heading back the direction we came from and make sure the woman tells me what her bloody name is.
One down, two to go.
Actually laughed so hard at this after reading that wall of textSpot1990 said:Piss myself and get shot.
That's the thing, most normal (AKA Average Joe/Jane) people would end the story with how I ended (The "Swiss Cheese" death). Same thing happens with zombie stories; every gamer in the world thinks they're going to be the survivor and not the zombie who gets his head blown off by the solider who actually knows what they're doing.Battleaxx90 said:This is the kind of answer I'm looking for, btw.Zen Toombs said:snip
It actually interests me how many different kinds of responses there are to this situation. Truth be told, I only expected people to give either troll responses, jerk responses, or the kind of response I wanted. I got that, and everything in between. Thanks, guys! You've all given me some insight on how a normal person would react in this situation!
Okay, I guess I should come clean. That story I wrote at the beginning? It's actually based off the first half of this short story I'm writing. Before I wrote the second half, I said to myself: "How would a normal person react in this situation?" I have Aspergers Syndrome, which essentially means my train of thought runs on a different set of tracks than the average person, and I doubt the protagonist of this story has Aspies as well.
Once again, this has been a real big help. Thanks!
Also, in regards to everybody asking why she's giving YOU the gun, I say this: Did I ever say that she was unarmed? Or defenceless?
You gotta love that this is the first answer we see.Spot1990 said:Piss myself and get shot.
You're a really good writer!Battleaxx90 said:Allow me to set the scene.
Nice about the short story. Could you message it to me when you finish it? It sounds really interesting.Battleaxx90 said:This is the kind of answer I'm looking for, btw.

Third - While in that pulse pounding situation, split-second situation I would have expected/assumed her to not be armed or able to defend herself,[footnote]because very few normal people would be armed or able to defend themselves, and I assumed she was normal[/footnote] if the pressure was ever let down I would likely start to notice the inconsistencies (if they did not become more obvious). If the pressure never let up/didn't for a long time, I would likely forget those inconsistencies and treat the situation at face value.Did I ever say that she was unarmed? Or defenceless?
Got pretty much everything covered here.Jedoro said:I bet she had that metal briefcase in here.On her lap, she's carrying a medium-sized backpack with colored a dark green, with a floral pattern on the front pocket.
By asking this, she's just given herself away as a soldier. And funny how she wakes up right after I open the briefcase. What, was she pretending to be out?Meanwhile, the girl from before has woken up and is looking over your shoulder. She notices the gun, and asks if you're also a soldier.
If he notices us but doesn't fire, he either deserves to be shot or he's not an enemy. He also has a large, threatening rifle in his hands. He appears to notice you two, and slowly ambles over the wreckage to where you and the girl are. Immediately, the girl quickly and skilfully places a magazine from the briefcase into the pistol, turns the safety off, and hands it to you handle-first, all with a serious look on her face.
So, I force her to the ground (which makes her a smaller target and keeps her pinned if it's some sort of trap), aim at the guy, and tell him to drop the weapon. If he tries raising it, I put some holes in his chest, give her the pistol, and take the rifle, along with any other gear he has. If he complies and somehow reasonably proves he's not here to kill me, then I hate to say it, but I put the gun to the cute girl's chest/back and ask what the hell's going on.
He changed that after I broke his story with how quickly I got myself killed (see a few posts down on page 1)rhizhim said:tippy2k2 said:I heroically grab the weapon and state a clever one-liner. I lift the weapon (one handed of course while holding mystery girl in my arms with the other). Also, my shirt became ripped just enough so that you can see the six pack abs that I suddenly gained.
I then get shot repeatedly because I forgot to turn the safety off. I should have clicked the safety BEFORE holding onto the lady...
On the plus side, the terrorist now gets a clever one-liner...
