What's messed up is:- this is a backwards compatible model. This means he's taking that away from someone that would actually wants it but has to make do with a later model and depending if it's first generation he's microwaving a PS2 as well. I can't see a point.

Couldn't he have just decorated it and have modded working PS3?

Then it wouldn't be art. Why just go "half-way" when you're making art. If that requires you to light stuff on fire, then you do it. That's the only way that you're going to get some true avant-garde microwaved console centerpieces.

The hell is your problem. Someone showed a Ps3 getting destroyed, I showed more consoles being destroyed because I thought someone who found this interesting might find that interesting. How does that make me a fanboy?

And I'd like to point out, when a person is in the process of moving house the console can take the same amount of damage as they showed in the first round.

Sorry bout that: I'm a bit twitchy on the trigger finger today. The whole "failure rate" comment you made set me off, as I've heard WAY TOO MANY similar comments like that recently to degrade the 360. Just didn't want a thread about neat art to turn into another flame war.

As for moving house: you're supposed to be careful with these things and bring them in the car with you. It seems like common sense to me.
