yeah you'd continue to fall unless you somehow brace yourself...
but yeah there are a lot of hilarious scenarios to be imagined...

if only there was a mini game where you have to hit a target (puzzle) with a certain amount of force
have something fall through the ceiling/floor to gain velocity
and then fire a portal into the wall in front of the target and BAM
