if we wanted Im pretty sure we could have sailed HMS Conqueror up to whatever fleet base the Argentinian navy used and just picked off Argy (navy) ships till they ran out of torpedos or got sunk and no one would have said boo til someone signed a ceasefire.

also,I think Thatcher was a ***** who did some really heavy damage to this nations economy and heavy industry whilst really fucking up its notion of community/society. Her primary concern in power seemed to have been benefiting the few at the expense of the many.
American here, and thanks to an upstanding british friend of mine I heard of her as a Maggie Thatcher joke. I was completely lost and he refered me to the Wiki. Tyrannical, yes. Supporting bad policies? Certainly... Starting the Falklands War? Don't think that one could have been avoided.

As an american, Thatcher was given approxamitely two sentences (Half of what was given to the War for Toledo. Total casualties of that, 1 Ohioan pig.) in my history textbook. I also read an article about her in Newsweek, though I don't know how many people read Newsweek.

(from Belgium; doesn't really count, perhaps) Yes I know of her. She was a chemist, and co-invented soft-ice. Politically, i know she was quite right-wing and disliked for some rather draconian measures, but that's about it.
While she mess up everything, she did have one advantage that outshines recent governmental changes. She had a plan, and actually did stuff. It seems like thatcher took a sledgehammer to the scaffolding that was building britian, and now all the government can do is prod the rubble with a stick to make sure it's still there.
I don't really have an opinion about Marget Thatcher, because I have never heard any facts on which to base that opinion. What I HAVE heard about here can be summed up in these two sentences:

being a Canadian, i know about her, just nothing she has done, other then shes currently a Tad outta it these days
Considering she was instrumental in the failure of the 1980 constitution repatriation attempt in Canada (which would have been Trudeau's worst dick move in career if it had went through), I love her.
I know nothing of her policies, though, so I'm not a great judge of her character.
