Perhaps a Quasi dynasty warriors take on the American Revolution with other game play elements thrown in.

With far far less technology and surviving against the health depleting elements, I'd give that a whirl.

I'm gonna say Steampunk as I barely see it at all outside of adventure games and Timesplitters 3. The era of early 1900's but with the technology that is advanced beyond it's time. Zeppelins as flying hotels 'n casinos and trains that are four times the size of steam driven engines, with all the appearance of Victorian décor and outfits

How about a Mario Kart-esque educational game to teach kids about the human reproductive cycle.

We can call it Sperm Racer. Watch out for those blue shells!

Why don't they use cruise boats more often? I mean, its a big setting with all the shops and people you could dream of, along with reasonable barriers for the player's environment. If they really needed a new location, they could just shove the protagonist to another ship.
Yeah. How about we make a zombie game with aquatic zombies that can climb up over the railings of the ship and surprise you. They'll shamble like resident evil zombies while on the ship but swim like superhuman monstrosities underwater. They could belong to a drowned civilization.

Steampunk High Fantasy. I can only think of Arcanum and maybe Silverfall here.

Motherwell in Scotland.Ha! doubt anybody even knows that place.
I also know of this mythical "Motherwell"...

On topic: Personally I think some of the clan warfare and infighting that has taken place in Scottish history could make an interesting game.

Also ancient Egypt, because chariot drive bys would be awesome if done well.
Haha "mythical" really quite a shithole :L

A vintage Steampunk design similar to "Steamboy" would be cool. Maybe in the style of Fallout 3/New Vegas or even just a straight up Steam/Sci-Fi FPS.

How about England during the time of William the conquerer, who invaded from Normandy to take the country from the Saxons? It is one of the most important events in my country's history but it is almost never mentioned in not only games, buy filma and TV too. Why is this?

We did something like that in WoW with preset rules. Some undead started walking(not running) from Undercity and saying "Braaaaains!" They headed toward Southshore, and a bunch of alliance(mostly low level) came to stop us. Rules were that if an Alliance got killed, they would go roll an undead and join in the shuffle. Undead were free to rez and continue the march if they got killed.

Meanwhile some higher level Alliance were pursuing the "cure." Can't remember what it was, but it took some time, so it might have been an instance raid or something. Anyway, once the "cure" was recovered, they distributed it to the Southshore team, who then began to give it to the undead by way of a hug emote. You get hugged, you're cured.

It was a lot of fun and the sort of event that kept me playing as long as I did (you know, before the players all became mindless dungeon raiding zombies)

Steampunk/anachronism type settings haven't yet reached their full potential yet.

Idea: A rifle type weapon that breach loads like a revolver, with cycling barrels moved round by a shotgun esqe pump action.

Its like a cross of all my favourite "standard" fps weapons.

Spanish civil war (during world war 2)...Actually, how about anything from world war 2 that happened outside of france....The winter war has potential for a game.
Russian revolution hasn't been done, and could be interesting.
We need more proper cyberpunk games, dues ex was/is awesome, I want more dammit.
Sci-fi games have a habit of going way into the distant future and tend to be set on some random planet, it could be cool to have a game set on the moon, look back down on (possibly broken) earth.

There has been no steampunk anything besides Bioshock/Arcanum:Really long title.

Very few Vietnam games, and the ones that are out aren't very good. I guess ShellShock was an ok series.

A future dystopian America that isn't completely bombarded by nukes. How about a dystopian future were everyone is fat and stupid were you must escape a corporate society? (sigh) Dreams.

I would like to see a setting which takes place inside someones mind, not like 'Freeman's Mind' [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J80KD4BG7M] inside the mind, I mean like playing through someones sub conscious or their dreams.
So, Psychonauts then.

Also, arguably, the good Silent Hill games.
