So, with summer comin 'round the bend I plan on inviting a certain female friend of mine over to hang out. One of things we plan to do is watch a scary movie (cliche, right?).

At any rate... I don't really know any good scary movies.
Any idea, Escapists?

I've heard mixed things about Paranormal Activity, perhaps go with that?

I'm not quite a connoisseur of the "horror movie" genre.

The Grudge. It's hilarious! You won't have to worry about being frightened and looking like a wuss because it's hilarious!

I agree! I laughed hysterically through 90% of the grudge. Can't get over how it was hyped to be so terrifying.

OT: Well I despise most really recent horror because it is, in a word, shit.
I recommend The Silence of the Lambs or Signs. Old but still good. (Not really that scary admittedly, but good movies)

The Girl Next Door (2007, not the Comedy)
That film can make anybody but the most rigid sociopaths cringe in disgust.

The Exorcist. That is all.

I second this - it's slightly creepy in a weird sort of way that it passes for a horror movie, but is so humorous that your precious, sacred manhood can't be tarnished if you were to get "scared" (as if such a word existed in my brocabulary).

... but yeah. The Grudge. Also, I'm a fan of Quarantine, which can be pretty damn freaky if you like atmosphere horror, but, with friends, it tends to get more on the funny side because one person will always say something like "She whines too much."

If she's into J-horror, consider Ju-on, or Ringu, or perhaps Suicide Circle. The last is my favorite :) 54 little schoolgirls, all in a line...

El Orfanato (the orphanage). Not only is it scary/freaky enough to get you into some snuggles, but it's also a genuinely good movie.

Human Centipede. Also a good way to find out if she's into anything kinky... ... ... ... or not.

Scariest film I ever saw was The Blair Witch Project. That said, I was around 16 when I saw it, on my own, at night, in my room. With the lights off and curtains closed.

Anyhow, I highly recommend it, it's a great film and also extremely scary, especially near the end. The film was made more scary because the emotions shown by the 'actors' are completely real, the crew never warned the actors about most of the stuff they did to creep them out in the shooting of it, so the actors didn't know what scares were real and what had been faked by the film crew for the purposes of filming...

...Real Monsters!

OT: The Human Centipede. What has been seen cannot be unseen.
