August Underground. It is actually really emotional and deep for a horror movie and I'm sure she will love it. It also has an incredibly well told story and is absolutely horrifying.

Human Centipede. Also a good way to find out if she's into anything kinky... ... ... ... or not.
I swear to god that film began as some ultra fetishistic pornographic project, then the director had an epiphany about how to increase its success by labelling it as horror when reported audiences reacted as such:

Alien or Paranormal Activity. Both are pretty scary.

I've heard mixed things about Paranormal Activity, perhaps go with that?

I'm not quite a connoisseur of the "horror movie" genre.
Paranormal activity comes across more as a documentary than a horror film, and as such I found it to be rather lacking in the scares department, until the very end at least.

Also, beware that the film has 2 endings for some reason. One of which is pure shit and makes no sense at all and is flatter than roadkill, and one of which made me crud my pants like an incontinent 4 year old.

For true scares, I'd recommend this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kffacxfA7G4].

Spare yourself the trouble and don't pick a Saw movie. They're not scary, just disgusting.
A fairly good one (If a bit out of season) is Trick 'r Treat. The movie is a bit scary at times, but not overly so, and it is definitely interesting if you pay attention to it. (For instance, if things don't go overly well with intended/implied awesomeness.)

The Grudge. It's hilarious! You won't have to worry about being frightened and looking like a wuss because it's hilarious!
Have you watched One Missed Call, it was quite hilarious, well to me anyway. Oh so cheesy.....oh and Ghost Ship, that was funny also.

Oh scary, well watch the Exorcist or Blair Witch Project

OK, I've heard a lot about the human centipede, but can someone describe to me in words what it is?

I'm too much of a pussy to check it out myself. I've never even seen 2girls 1cup.

Trick R Treat is really more of a satire film poking great fun at B horror with a ton of enthusiasm for the genre.

Paranormal Activity is a about as horrific as a sock dangling on the end of a fishing pole, one wielded by a man making "oooo" noises as he dances it before your eyes.

If you want a fun scary movie that is scary and fun in equal amounts, then get either Evil Dead 2 (You don't need the first one to watch it) or Trick 'r Treat.

If you want something that's truly scary I've got a few suggestions: The original Halloween (Do NOT under any circumstances get the Rob Zombie remake, and if the video store or Netflix queue mistakenly gives you the wrong one, than demand the original copy because the fact that Rob Zombie got money for making that petrifyingly awful remake astounds me), the original Nightmare On Elm Street (Again, no remake!), The Descent, Alien, Aliens, The Orphanage, or the original Exorcist (No prequels or sequels! AT ALL)

If you want something that's gut-wrenchingly creepy, then get Paranormal Activity (And maybe switch the language to Spanish so that that annoying twat Micah will be less grating), The Blair Witch Project, Session 9, 1408, The Shining, or better yet, play Silent Hill 2 with her THE WHOLE NIGHT!

Crazy German scientist sews three people together, two women who are best friends on vacation, and a Japanese man doing likewise. They are attached through their digestive systems, in a line, the man in front as one woman is sewn at his anus, then the last to hers, both women forced to ingest each others' waste for nourishment. It's good fun for the family.

*Ahem* A mad scientist decides that he wants to do THIS to three ordinary people.

Barf ensues.

Was anybody else disappointed that the bandages were never removed? I thought it a total cop out. The most gruesome scenes were the one girl having her IV ripped out during escape, and the last girl vomiting through her stitches. Otherwise it was tame in comparison to some lesser known gory films.

However, I had managed to keep my dinner in my stomach, until I saw this picture:

That made me fucking dry heave. I dread to think what I would do if I saw the actual video.

Having said that, I watched Glass Ass without feeling too bad, so maybe I could cope. Not really willing to try though...

Then watch the trailer ;D [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX8fKLjC__c]

I will say that the surgeon's performance in this film was fantastic, very convincing and equally chilling throughout.

This person is wrong. Do not bring a girl over to your house to watch Teeth. That's just a bad idea. You should watch Teeth though. Preferably with some friends.

Scariest film I ever saw was The Blair Witch Project. That said, I was around 16 when I saw it, on my own, at night, in my room. With the lights off and curtains closed.

Anyhow, I highly recommend it, it's a great film and also extremely scary, especially near the end. The film was made more scary because the emotions shown by the 'actors' are completely real, the crew never warned the actors about most of the stuff they did to creep them out in the shooting of it, so the actors didn't know what scares were real and what had been faked by the film crew for the purposes of filming...
This. Blair Witch Project ruled. I watched it maybe six months ago for the first time and loved it, so I can attest to the fact it has held up well.

If I had to pick another movie, Pitch Black would be my choice. In my opinion it's every bit as good as Aliens (but not as good as the original Alien). So it's up there with the big boys of science fiction horror.

Yeah. Trick R' Treat is a pretty good pick. So is Evil Dead 2 which I've seen a couple of times in this thread. Maybe a zombie movie like Night of the Living Dead or 28 Days Later. The Shining is still one of my personal favorite horror movies. I also like the original Nightmare on Elm Street. I feel that all of these movies are reasonably ok date movies. Of coarse I would bring a girl to see a superhero or sci-fi movie so perhaps my advice isn't the best on the matter.

I second this - it's slightly creepy in a weird sort of way that it passes for a horror movie, but is so humorous that your precious, sacred manhood can't be tarnished if you were to get "scared" (as if such a word existed in my brocabulary).

... but yeah. The Grudge. Also, I'm a fan of Quarantine, which can be pretty damn freaky if you like atmosphere horror, but, with friends, it tends to get more on the funny side because one person will always say something like "She whines too much."
Have you seen the Spanish version called Rec. ? It's a lot better than Quarantine in my opinion, because a)You don't have to watch that actress, and b) the way it ends is better.
Neither is really a remake of one another, the script was sold to a both a Spanish and an American studio, and they were both made slightly differently, or so I hear anyway.

Pontypool is a pretty cool take on the whole zombie thing. It accomplishes a lot with a really small budget.

Those are my recommendations, Pontypool and/or Rec.
