Are you really comfortable with following orders?

No disrespect intended. I just wouldn't feel comfortable in that situation, knowing I might have to kill people, or risk the lives of innocents, for a goal I may not be fully privileged to know about.
Any difference from working at hardee's?
Do you normally ask about hypertension or cholesterol levels before taking their orders?
Innocent bystanders don't typically get caught in the crossfire at fast food resteraunts, and enemies in combat don't generally put down their guns, pay you ten bucks, and ask to be shot in the face.

Congrats bro. Have fun in the navy and stay safe. I hope you become a SEAL, they're bad ass man.

If I ever join the military I think the navy or sniper school is the way I would go.

Good luck, and hope you don't die :/

I plan on joining the dutch equivalent of SEALS (Korps Mariniers) but I dont know whether I could pass the training. Got several years to find out/train anyway :)

Anyway good luck in the seals.

Thank you! You may have saved this guy's life if he heeds you =p.

People think I'm bullshitting when I talk about Nukes because I'm an IT.

From talking to every nuke I ever played Warcraft III with underway, I've never found one that didn't regret it.

Wait, you're on the Vinson?

I'm not surprised at all. The Nukes on the Vinson are probably even more disgruntled then those in the rest of the fleet.

Don't ask me how I know that. *Walks away whistling*

A lot of people in the military work in support positions. Right now the ratio of support personnel to front line troops is something like 7:1, and that's the army. The Navy and the Air Force is a lot higher. People in those jobs will probably never be ordered to kill anyone.

Hell, become a cook and it's pretty much like working at Hardees, except the food is worse and you can't quit.

I ship out January, hoping to get it moved up. Where did you join from? Were the jobs short because a lot of people out of my department have to go back to try for their jobs again.

Best Of Luck

Update
Over the past months I have been working with my recruiters to find a solution to my problem. So far, barring an unholy pact with Satan made under the new moon and bathed in the blood of a goat, I won't be able to retest before Basic. The good news? I retest at Great Lakes.
Coronado here I come.

Congrats on your service (I am Army) but I wonder if you knew about the BUD's program the Navy setup, essentially you enlist as a BUD's candidate, you go to Boot camp with nothing but BUD's selectee's, its physically tougher, but prepares you better for the program. You still have to go to some sort of A-school and get a job, but you end up at BUD's usually within a year of basic.

I know about how the SpecWar guys are segregated from everyone else. For instance, they get the pool for most of the morning, no one else gets to go in. From what I've read and been told, BUD/S IS an A School.

No I mean that from Day 1 in boot camp, trainees are put through more physically demanding training then normal Sailor's, they stay together all the way through till they actually goto BUD's selection. Cool concept, anyway a buddy of mine is a corpsmen, and when I went to his boot camp grad (over 1100 recruits!) there were 2 full companies of strictly BUD's candidates.
