Quick lets Ban this game for the sake of the kids that wont be able to buy regardless due to the M rating it will more then likely get. Redundancy is redundant.

When will people learn that just like movie books and art, some video games are made for adults and not meant for kids.

I can't wait for the next fox news article "Now not only will video games turn your kids into rapist but now they will also turn them into Drug cartel leader who are rapist." -Some studies

i may be misinformed here but i thought mexico had a military, why not ask the government to bring in the military instead of baning a game that would probably not have any political significance to the way people perceive the town. they should be spending the time they have to stop the violence that the game portrays instead of focusing on a scapegoat.

Simple solution: Parents actually giving a fuck what they buy for their kids. The age-rating is displayed prominently on the box.

Well, I'm glad to know that my country isn't the only one trying to screw with the medium for political reasons.

Also, did anyone catch the resolution to the EMA v. Schwarzenegger case a while back? The supreme court should have made a decision by now.
You give the Supreme Court way too much credit. Honestly, don't be surprised if the opinion doesn't get released until summer.

On topic: I don't have much of an opinion. I can understand why Juarez would want this game to not be made. It is honestly more than little distasteful. That being said, I don't think a ban is the right response. I think all they should do is voice their dissatisfaction with the game and move on. You can't win this fight and you are not endearing a lot of people to your side by asking for a government ban.

Just change the name of the city the game is set in.
I would somewhat be annoyed if that were to happen. The game industry needs to quit responding to the knee jerk reactions of every fuckward with a voice. Especial these folks since they obviously have no understanding of how things work.

Would a movie of the same name and subject matter be so vocally opposed, I think not. I'm looking at you Scarface.

If Juarez doesn't like the way it's portrayed in the game they should spend more time FIXING THEIR DAM CITY than whining about a video game.

Lolwut? XD
A lot of dog breeds are named after the region they originated from. See Pekingese, Pomeranian, Pyrenean, German Shepherd, Akita, etc.
Fun fact: Chihuahua is where Poncho Villa was from.
Hey they should a game about him

Here's a little project for you: take a little trip down to Juarez and tell the first drug cartel member you see to stop fucking up the city. Assuming you make it back to where you live alive, tell us how it worked out. Everybody thinks they have some solution when in reality, they have no fucking clue.

The first two games were also called Call of Juarez and it had nothing to do with their city. They also don't know that this third game does, or anything else about the game beyond the title. I therefore vote that they should have a nice cup of shut the fuck up.

I think half the people in this thread just read the title and commented. They aren't blaming the game for the situation and they ARE trying to fix it. It's just they think a game like this can get into the childrens hands and trivialize the horrible crimes that go on there. Blaming it ON games would be silly but saying that a game that practically romanticizes it is going to help the situation is a bit far-fetched. I'm sure most Americans would want to ban a game based on 9/11 but they won't say it caused it they would say it trivialized it, well maybe Fox News would blame it on games but thats just my opinion. This isn't like Six Days in Fallujah or however you spell it, where they were trying to get a message across, This game is just making the crime look like the good life

Please give us your expert opinion of how things are in Juarez. I'd love to know "how things work" there.

Seeing how this is Mexico, it's hard for me (as an American) to judge the situation considering I don't understand their laws regarding "freedom of speech" or how their culture views it. I can, however, shake my head at Ubisoft's marketing of the game. "Experience the lawlessness of the modern Wild West"? Really? They are turning the CURRENT plight and suffering of people into a playground for people (mostly non-Mexicans) to enjoy committing the very acts of violence the people depicted in the game have to live with everyday. They really are rubbing this in the city's face.

I have no problem with using real world events/conflicts/scenarios for a fictional work, but this just seems like exploitation. Juarez has a right to be pissed off.

P.S: I am journalism major and a strong supporter of free speech. I'm not saying this game shouldn't be available to those people, I am saying Ubisoft should be more conscious of the people they are depicting. Ethics, nuff' said.

Inadequate suits blame their failings on something trivial.

Next week: "Computer games caused World War II!"

Wow, I meant how thing work in the video game industry like about how they are demanding a game be banned from children when in fact the game would essentially be banned from children due to the rating.

Demanding something be done that would have happened anyway show a lack of understanding about how things work (in the game industry)

As for how things work in Juarez I don't know I have never been there and probably never will.

Just a thought... Maybe we should wait for the video game to be released before we start making assumptions about its content?

Pathetic and sad. These people should spend less time bitching about things that have no effect on them and maybe then they'd have more time to think about how to fix the crime problem. Idiots.

I should be surprised by the fact so many people on this thread jumped the gun and only read the articles title and yet...nothing.

Hmm, normally I side with freedom of speech. The availability of the game would normally be the only right thing in my mind. But this seems to be something born out of extraordinary fear. A nation of people are scared, and this sort of game isn't helping.

Then again, banning the game isn't going to help either.
