Hey she learned a lesson about consequences of actions in a safe environment through video games! This is not how things are supposed to be! Children must be brought up strapped to tables where they cannot move or talk or think while the parents endlessly lecture them about what's right and what's wrong! Video Games are the devil's domain, a Gomorrah of violence and despicable sexual acts that exist no where else in society! I am so offended by this I must petition the government to do something about this!

If you can't tell, the above is satirical. Now I'm off to meme "People don't want to be sword."
If video games are a Gomorrah of violence, wouldn't God have laz0r beamed them already? The old testament God really liked his laz0r beam.

OT: The fact that a 3 year old girl came up with the solution 'Sword him' for a minor annoyance is semi-worrying. At least she learned that swording people comes with consequences, because people don't want to be sword.

Is it? I mean, there are two ways of interacting with people in skyrim. You can talk to them or you can sword them. Talking didn't work, so she tried the other one. I mean, she has like 4 buttons to press and will press the one that actually makes something happen.

I just wrote an essay on this. Now the girl will know what happens in real life when you murder someone. Some day, when she becomes a stereotypical girl, and she's fighting over a new pair of shoes or something, she's going to think back to this moment when she contemplates killing her foe.
Or maybe she'll just learn to kill people when no one else is around to see. Oh well, at least it was adorable while it lasted.

Wait, just because some people can't distinguish between reality and the game means that's they are okay to attack this situation?

If you yourself can't distinguish, that doesn't mean everyone else can't either. It's clear she could and her parents knew that and were there making sure she knew it wasn't real.

Also, it's pretty adorable.

I dig this. The parents were right there with the kid, as she played the game. She had a taste of the perils of forcing people to be sword, under the careful watch of her guardians. I wish more parents would do that- actually watch their children play games.

Yeah, watching her face as her character was maimed, I was at first worried that she was indeed simply horrified by the gore. But considering her comment ("people don't want to be sword"), it's pretty clear that she understood why the town guards attacked her character and was probably more bothered by being "sword" herself than by the images on the screen. So that alleviated my worries somewhat. Still, not exactly how I would raise my kids if I had any.

I think people are misunderstanding exactly how the "violent games make teenage shooters" works.

If parent is with the child while he/she is playing, and explains to her about morality and all that while they do, I dont see any particular harm (to certain limit) in child playing a skyrim.
If (an ignorant) parent buys his 10 year old kid "bloodgutshooterXXI" and leaves him to play it alone in his room day in and day out, never making any actual effort in parenting himself, shit will go down hard.

Aww, how cute. The unarmed man asked her to go away and she shouted No a few times then killed him with an axe. A valuable lesson in conflict resolution has been learned... right?

Sorry, but I'm gonna be the guy that says this is totally inappropriate for a child. I don't see how this is different from the ever popular "I saw a dumb parent in Best Buy picking up Black Ops for her 10 year old..."

I hope this is a one off, and not how her 'gamer family' juggle looking after a 3 year old and playing Skyrim, or any other game, at the same time.
On a gaming forum, your prolly in a minority. Teaching a life lesson to a child via video game is brilliant.

Clearly playing Skyrim will make her grow up murdering people by shouting and blasting frost at them. Clearly learning that killing people is not a good idea is bad because a video game taught it.

I belive it doesn't matter how a lesson is learnt, as long as it is learnt. I applaud the parents in not following "Absolutly everyone and everything is trying to corrupt and damage your child!!!!" school of thought that is far too common these days.

Whenever I talk about responsible parenting as opposed to blanket bans of certain content this is what I'm talking about. More people need to learn that "people don't want to be sword"

If anything I think this is teaching her a valuable lesson about consequences, I mean, she was able to figure out that people don't like to be sworded, most games reward you for swording people, this one actually taught her not to sword. Besides, children are exposed to much much worse everyday. Just not in as large numbers as they used to be.
I kind of agree, however, they better not teach her that if you steal something or kill someone while noone sees you and you're being sneaky, you can get away with it XD.
Remember kids! If someone has something you really want, toss a bucket on their head and they'll let you take it!

Awwww...

"People don't want to be sword."

She learned a valuable lesson today.

And yes toddlers are that flippant of violence, it is only through parenting that they learn sharp objects hurt people and will have consequences if you try to do that.

I laughed a lot harder than I should. That was adorable.
Let's just hope she doesn't think she's immune to swording and such when she tries to sword one of the kids.
