Three of the best mature/adult comics are The Invisibles by Grant Morrison, Preacher by Garth Ennis and Transmetropolitan.
The Invisibles- brilliant. The Matrix as written by a peyote-addled William S. Burroughs

I dunno I'd say try webcomics, I mean if people are all pissy about superman saying "GD" taking it as the lords name in vain I can't imagine there being room for anything 'more extreme'

If you don't mind it being a Webcomic and you don't mind furries, Jack is one of the best adult oriented stories out there.

Start at arc 1. Go from there.

I really did like Jack when I first started, and want to get back into it, but after a while it just kind of felt like the author started pushing a 'men are the devil, women are god' sort of feel.

Not to detract too strongly from it though, it was very very good and it hooked me terribly for a night or two... I think I'll check it out again sometime. (ooh... and your link makes it so easy...)
Which arc had you gotten to? I'm mostly curios because I had not noticed this trend and would like to see.

Also........... GIVE IN! Mwahahahaha!
Damn... I gave. Good looking into it again. I got to the purgatory arc,so 16. Looking at it again, My statement was a little harsher than it needed to be, though I don't want to retract it completely, skimming isn't quite the same as the in-depth read I gave it last. Thanks for bringing me back into it though... damn, I have work to do.... .. . Oh FNAR, you're so funny.

(I thought it was rather apparent in arcs 10, 13, and the end of 8. It was also less than all men are the devil of course, because the writing is very good and there are great characters in it, just simply that almost all evil deeds were done by men.)
Yeah, I can see what you are saying throughout, but especially in those arcs.

Glad I could help re-introduce you to it!

Cheers!

Sadly, you're not going to find it outside of porno, mainly because if someone tried to slip a harmless nip or two into a mainstream comic they'd be sued to hell.

hey, you know what time it is?

ITS MILLER TIME!

Frank Miller, his downward spiral in the Comic Book industry is well documented, and I can guarantee that most of his comics are a bit adult in nature.

I mean, some of his Batman comics have some viewable assets.

you can see their asses.

and like how Scarlet Johansson just found out, thats enough to get some guys worked up.
Which the script for Allstar Batman and Robin completely admits is what Mr. Miller was counting on. Which is frankly a little insulting. Oh well, that sort of thing is unfortunately fairly common, although it's usually skin-tight spandex outfits.

My personal recommendation would be Grant Morrison's Batman. It's pretty much a bit story that's compiled in:
Batman and Son, Batman Black Glove, Batman R.I.P., Batman and Robin Reborn 1,2 and 3, Batman INC.

Batman and Son and Batman INC are a bit more child friendly, but Black Glove and RIP are really strong into Satanisme and other dark sides of the world. Same with Batman and Robin, especially number 3. Real dark art as well.

I'd give it a go. There's some other adult Batman stories but this one I consider the best without resorting to nudity.

Not sure if serious...

Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose gets loads of flak on the net...and this is mostly justified. However, when it started 10 years ago, it wasn't nearly so fucked up.

It got a bit preachy, sometimes, and the author (Jim Balent) seems to be one of those feminists who doesn't know what feminism is (he's very big on women's rights to be attractive and naked and seduce the author insertion character, for example), but it had some genuinely good bits.

Sexuality was a big part of the stories, but the author gave up on having a story.

A woman wandering round naked at night cause she's a werecat going to have sex with a bunch of lesbian vampires, but who gets attacked by a rapist werewolf who's homophobic or against werecat/vampire relationships...that's a story. There's sexuality, rape and supernatural stuff in it, but there's an actual story in it.

A woman fighting a naked female monster who tears her clothes off and tries raping her into submission...this is not a story. This is bullshit rape porn, and it's how the comic ended up.

I'm pretty inspired by Battle Angel Alita, a manga, but one that doesn't hold its punches. :3

Well, you do know that Suicide Girls have released their own comics right? Lots of tattoo'd and pierced chicks, wearing very little [i.e none] clothing, boobs everywhere and lots of bright coloured hair.

Have to say it caught my attention last time I was in Forbidden Planet.

Pretty much all the Alan Moore comics. Not a lot of porn, but they tend to not be afraid of sex and nudity when it comes up in the stories.

I recently read the new reboot of Batwoman, my first experience with her and I found it kinda strange that at this point, in our society we must have obvious objects that break the scene to block something as simple as a nipple and it made me wish for a comic series that didn't have to pull it's punches with it's characters.
theres nudity in the new batgirl?

I guess some horror comics could be described as mature. I stumbled upon a comic called '68 about zombies in vietnam that's pretty mature. It's like shellshock 2 blood trails, only not crap.

First, Lost Girls is not illegal to own in the US. It can be hard to find in comic book stores, but you can buy it on Amazon. There are ways in which it might be of slightly gray legality, but you'd never be prosecuted for it, the laws would never hold up in court, and a lot of the naive descriptions of US obscenity law here are woefully misinformed.
Please explain how I'm wrong and where you're getting your information. I actually don't mind getting schooled on this issue, but I need specifics.

As far as I know, they passed a law saying anything drawn or rendered with kids in it having sex is illegal. That means until that law is repealed or struck down, Lost Girls is illegal. The fact that Amazon is still selling it just means they're not enforcing it to that degree-- yet. If I'm wrong, please explain how.

I agree that it's a bad law, but I don't understand your claim that it's not prosecutable. The entire point of passing a law with this wording was to *make* it prosecutable. Right? Agree or disagree. Explain why.
