Eh, it shouldn't bother you that much. Quality over quantity. This might sound weird coming from me, but I'd much rather have 100 posts that are brilliant than 10,000 posts of filler.

Still, I do post a lot, but I'm hardly something to look up to. If anything, I'm a warning.

I'm no Vaudevillianveteran though. I don't know how she does it.
Witchcraft.

It's the only explanation.

Another post count thread? I don't really see why its such a big deal. I've been a member for about one and a half years, yet I've seen some people double my post count in a few weeks.
As others have said, quality over quantity...

I suppose I may be a fair example of what you're talking about. Been here quite a while and my post count isn't very high. Not that it bothers me of course.

I blame user groups for my post count being as high as it is. I believe I have 1,200 posts in the forums.

But I don't really look at post count all that much. I respond to a post that interests me, nothing more. I don't really pay attention to the posters themselves, (post count, join date or otherwise) unless it's someone I have become forum friends with.

I am not blind, however, to the fact that higher post counts do equate to more "forum respect" as it were. I was rarely quoted before I hit about 200 posts. And I don't really think my posting style changed all that much between my first 200 and now. I also noticed an increase in quotes by random people after I hit 1,000 posts.

Again, I don't think my posts have changed, but I do think that the unfortunate truth is some people only read the posts of high post count posters. It's too bad really. I read most of the posts in the threads that interest me, and new members or low posters are just as likely to have thought provoking posts as senior members, imho.

Post count doesn't mean shit. I really wish more people would understand this.

Post count means nothing; it's the amount of time you've spent here and on the forums. It's better to be here for a long time than have a large post count.
Which is why I rule :D
Indeed! '08, high five!

She's an insomniac. Might have something to do with it. Though she's slowed down somewhat due to her internet being crappy and other stuff.

OT: For about a year or so, I only watched ZP and Unskippable. Then I suddenly discovered the forums and decided to give it a try. Now as you can see by my post count, I spend WAY too much time in Forum Games and User Groups.

Good times, Good Times!
In the game you had, did you travel around the airport with a talking fly? If so, I played a demo of that.

I had Putt-Putt Goes to the Zoo.
Yup! I had the airport game, It was awesome. Although that Putt Putt demo made me want the Putt Putt Game.

Post count divided by time since joining the forums is inversely proportional to time spent having a life.

There are posters who have a count doubly greater than mine who have joined in the past year.

This is a symbol of the fact that they could have wasted equiviacable amounts of time and thought in video games, which cost money.

Please notice I've been on here since only about 4 months after Yahtzee joined.

Indigo Dingo was a good example of this. When you make almost 100 posts every day, you'll probably end up getting banned.
Not always :) It's just a case of keeping off the forums when enraged.

When I first joined I read the posts of those with higher post count a little more thorough. But I quickly realized that post count had very little to say. Sure, those with high post count have survived here, so they obviously know how to not piss of the mods and stuff. But they aren't that special.

And thus, seeing someone who joined back in 1976 with only ten posts have nothing to do with anything at all. The person have just been wise in not saying anything when he doesn't felt like saying anything.

As long as you post meaningful posts, everything is fine and dandy. Some people make a lot of meaningful posts, which makes them "celebrities" of sorts. Thus people quote them, and that often leads to more posts. Some people post only crap (like me), which makes them ignored most of the time. Thus their post count never reaches astronomical heights. See, I joined in [look at date over there <-] and I only have [look at post count over there <-]

This is the only forum I've been on aside from Neopets, and I never posted on that one.
Dude, what's that game called in your avatar? I remember it was a children's point and click adventure game that I used to play alllotttt!
Putt Putt, from Humonguous(sic?).

To be honest I am not really sure why I made an account. When I first came to the escapist it was just to watch the videos. After a few months I broke down and made an account, at the start I posted quite a bit I guess but I just got bored with the environment and didn't feel that I was contributing much.

Now I just come on for fun and make the odd post here. I don't think the number of posts you have means anything. I notice users more so because of their avatars before their number of posts.

The only other place I visit is Gamefaqs, and I very rarely post there as well because 90% of the population are elitist. I use to post at the Nintendo Nsiders forums, but I lost interest, I went back one day after about a six month absence to see that I jsut missed the forums closing.

I started here when Unforgotten Realms was just starting. And was still on this website.

But I only joined a week or so ago.

She's an insomnia sufferer. So she spends the time when she can't sleep here which sadly is quite a bit.

OT: Like Furburt said, it's all about quality. Admittedly, nearly 70% of my posts are mindless drivel but I keep those to the Forum Games as that is where I live, really. But when I'm not dicking around in FGs and posting in OT, GD and User reviews, I always try and make my posts add something to the discussion. I'm pretty sure I don't succeed too often, though. :p

Well you will probably out live me on The Escapist. (I have already been suspended 3 times and on probation twice. I'm a disaster waiting to happen :/)

Well I usually don't join a site until I have something to say on the forums because it doesn't matter to me to be a member. Then one day I'll see a forum post that I feel like might be interesting to write in and join. I have been coming to The Escapist since December of 2008 and joined in September of 2009.
