So for the last few weeks I seem to be failing at waking up on time. I use no less that three alarms (a radio alarm, my phone and my DS) but I sleep through all of 'em. It's come to a point where I need to rely on someone else to wake me up otherwise I miss appointments and classes.

So what do you guys think?.

I meet the daily minimum hours of sleep (around 6 hrs) but I keep waking up tired and late. Am I doomed to never be able to wake up on time for anything?. I've heard that different alarms can help in waking up "heavy sleepers" and that keeping the alarm close to you will help..but alas, even today I woke up 40 minutes late for my dentist appointment.

Before I say this, this is a must to know. The statement I'm about to make is not meant to offend or degrate any person with disabilities. Buy one of those alarm clocks attached to your pillow that deaf people use.

Sonic Grenade? We sell them at my work, you don't sleep through them.
How do you time it to say, wake a person up at 9:30 am?. and also..what is it?. Is is a jack-in-the box that throws a hedgehog at you?. I might now wake up for that :/

You need time to unwind before you go to bed. Don't go straight to sleep after, say, going on the computer, or reading a book, or something that involves mental stimulus. Have around 10-30 minutes to slob out on the sofa in front of the telly or something.

I started doing this, and I find myself going to sleep hours quicker, and waking up minutes before my alarm even goes off feeling quite dandy :) Hope that helps.

Oh the joys of alarms.

I subconciously keep an ear out for my alarm but no one elses in the house or when they're up and making loads of noise. And I don't think you'd like to wake up to no signal on your radio just pshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh until I get up and turn it off.

My ex used to have one that rang so loud it woke the whole house up, try and get one of those? Like the battery powered ones. Or maybe one with a bell on.

Or you could just go to bed earlier? :D And then once you're in a routine you shouldn't really need an alarm clock anymore but it's a just in case cos you might end up waking up like minutes before.

Why not try getting more sleep? If you're waking up tired, then obviously you're not getting enough sleep, maybe try for 8 hours one night, see how that works out.

Not sure what to suggest. Being woken up suddenly by a loud noise isn't good for you. Have you tried setting an alarm on your phone and putting it under your pillow?

I just have a really loud bleeping alarm clock that's all the way on the other side of the room. It's really hard to go back to sleep after getting out of bed. Although if that doesn't work, you could try the alarm clock my friend had that is really loud, and can only be turned off with a key that gets ejected out (it has rotors, so flies for a short distance), meaning you actually have to get up and search for the thing...

I have Hammer Smashed Face full blast by Cannibal Corpse as my ringtone. Works beautifully.

I would turn the volume on the alarm as high as it will go, then set it to play Rammsteins...Well, anything, but especially Feuer Frei. Usually works for me, but if that fails, try going to bed earlier.

I have one of those. It's got this really distressing sound that's like the red alert siren from Star Trek.

I saw a method on TV called light therapy. When you get up, looks at a reasonably strong light source as soon as possible. Opening all the curtains in your house is good. This does something with the seratonin in your brain, and eventually you find yourself going to bed and waking up earlier. Make sure you don't look at strong light before you go to bed, either. Try and relax in a dark room.

Try getting a ringing clock with real bell rings. Especially a big one with really big bells. They tend to make such a racket that it's impossible to not hear them, even when you're fast asleep.

Just don't use them if you've got a weak heart. I've noticed that they can really startle you (which is why i stopped using one, it scared me half to death every time)

You could get a cat and feed it in the mornings. That way, it will pounce on you every morning for food and meow until you get up.
