Alien: Omg this is awesome!

Aliens 2: Hey this is fun!

Alien 3: Uhh...

Alien 4: OH GOD WHAT?

COMING SOON!

Alien 5: ...*hung self in the back*
This pretty much, after the marines were introduced it slowly declined (After Aliens) and when they introduced the mercs in Resurrection (?) it was to far for me.

If they got someone like Ridley Scott to make it then I'm certain that it would actually be quite a good film (James Cameron would also be a good bet), however, if they hand this to someone like Paul Anderson or Ewe Boll then...we may be looking at another AVPR (let us hope it doesn't come to this).

Why can't they just let the old franchises alone?
Prequels are always a bad idea. The Alien franchise should just be laid to rest...
If you add these together, you'll get a very bad film (in my opinion).

i loved alien and aliens, but following those (the greatest sci-fi and the greatest sequel ever) the franchise was done, it had reached the end of its decent marketability.

ever subsequent sequel was just another nail in the poor girls coffin.

accept its dead!

Hmm... I'm skeptical to say the least. Hollywood always manage to f**k ideas up in a way only they could pull off. However I loved the original series and will watch the prequel, though I won't be expecting much.

Frankly I like the mystery that was left with the alien ship. Tony Scott does put out some good movies, but with an amateur director at the helm, methinks the mystery is going to get turned into when you find out where it goes when you flush the toilet.
Frankly this is a ripe time for something so original it shocks people into thinking its great to go to the movies again. And by original, I mean something NOT connected to an already existing and overused movie franchise.

yay, another boring alien film.

Did they really include the alien pilot that the crew of the Nostromo in the first movie, thinking... "oooooo, we can include this a plot hole so we can make a prequel movie."

I think not, I sense the unnecessary milking of a franchise.

Yeah, I know that.
The only thing I was talking about was that it was upside-down for some weird reason.
Looks normal to me - but I wear glasses so blame my skewed vision!
Uhm...
The "mouth" is on the downside of the egg, outlined by the green glow coming from within the egg. You can tell by the typical, multi-"jaw" formation it has. Similar to the Sandworms in Dune.
And unless it's glued to the ceiling or a wall, the mouth ought to be on the upper side.
But in this picture, the upper side has no opening at all.

I can't see it - sorry mate. Was the mouth in the original trailer?
Huh, what? Isn't it totally obvious? Look at the green glow! It obviously marks the mouth of the egg!

As for the original trailer: I dunno. But it's that way in the friggin' movie itself.
Well, except for the green glow, they probably added that to make the picture more mysterious.
Did you even see Alien?

Here, this'll work:

Now replace the dark areas in the cracks on the top (the mouth) with green glow and turn the whole picture upside-down and you get the image on the DVD-box.

So, my question remains: Why turn the egg upside-down?

No, no, NO!! Goddamn it, we don't want you to keep slaughtering, raping and defiling the Alien franchise!

Apparently someone needs a facehugger thrown at them.
What that guy said. They should have stopped at Aliens. That was a great movie. 3&4 sucked arse. Some of the old graphic novels were really good though.
