I sincerely hope that they base the movie on what I consider made the movies great and identifiable as the Alien franchise;
- "It's an alien, but it's okay there are twelve of us. Hmm, there's actually forty of them, but it's okay we've got guns. Hmm, they can climb walls and come from any direction but it's okay, I have an alien embryo inside me and will be dog meat shortly anyway" The aliens were best portrayed as being akin to a force of nature, not an opponent to best.
- the battle between humanity and an enemy who is vastly inferior technologically yet whose evolution and sheer numbers have the most hardened USM's pissing their pants
- the unassuming lead character whose practical "This is what we should do, let's get it done and done right before we're all proper f***ed" attitude leaves all other opinions by the wayside
and drop what made them like every other freaking monster/horror movie;
- the flashy one-up action sequences (He didn't just shoot it in the head, he shot it in the head at the last second, while hanging upside down! Wow!)
- the single spectral entity that pops in and out and requires some grand master chess plan to kill
- the lame 'Nature will find a way' plot devices, actors with the acting abilities of a plank and the major creature design changes for no real reason
- the entire "we're just poor defenseless __________s, how ever are we going to stop this mysterious monster?"
But in the end judging by the recent list of bastardized remakes and se/prequels, I'll try not to get my hopes up too high.
Damn it, I don't need to see -my- aliens 5 movie, just an -aliens- movie.
