Huh. Wow. That makes (a bit) more sense now.
Though I still don't understand what that's about, then. Why use a chicken egg when the "real" Alien-eggs were already established in their current form in Alien (part 1)?
Also, those eggs never "crack" open, their mouth opens and the facehugger leaps out...
I don't get it.
Maybe they didn't want to spoil it with an image of the actual eggs? Still, weird.

why can't they leave alien alone? alien was amazing and aliens and alien 3 weren't half bad but we REALLY dont need a prequel, but on the upside it couldn't possibly suck as much as resurrection did

I wish this movie will be good, but the common sense side of me tells me otherwise.

Eh, I'm not too confident about the proposal. I'm not saying the movie will suck, but the whole 'revealing the mysteries' thing kinda takes the chill away from it, you know? As Yahtzee once said, mysteries lose all their appeal the moment you explain them.

I sincerely hope that they base the movie on what I consider made the movies great and identifiable as the Alien franchise;

- "It's an alien, but it's okay there are twelve of us. Hmm, there's actually forty of them, but it's okay we've got guns. Hmm, they can climb walls and come from any direction but it's okay, I have an alien embryo inside me and will be dog meat shortly anyway" The aliens were best portrayed as being akin to a force of nature, not an opponent to best.
- the battle between humanity and an enemy who is vastly inferior technologically yet whose evolution and sheer numbers have the most hardened USM's pissing their pants
- the unassuming lead character whose practical "This is what we should do, let's get it done and done right before we're all proper f***ed" attitude leaves all other opinions by the wayside

and drop what made them like every other freaking monster/horror movie;

- the flashy one-up action sequences (He didn't just shoot it in the head, he shot it in the head at the last second, while hanging upside down! Wow!)
- the single spectral entity that pops in and out and requires some grand master chess plan to kill
- the lame 'Nature will find a way' plot devices, actors with the acting abilities of a plank and the major creature design changes for no real reason
- the entire "we're just poor defenseless __________s, how ever are we going to stop this mysterious monster?"

But in the end judging by the recent list of bastardized remakes and se/prequels, I'll try not to get my hopes up too high.

Damn it, I don't need to see -my- aliens 5 movie, just an -aliens- movie.

meh......

Big whoop.

When they started re-making 80s movies in the 90s I pretty muched deduced that hollyweird had devolved into a mess of inbred, mentally deficient shortbus riders.

That being said, I no longer understand the attraction of movie theaters. Between the increasingly rude patrons, extremely high cost of the candy/popcorn/drinks and questionable quality of films I find it much easier on my concious to stay home and wait for DVD release.

I can honestly say I have not felt the rage being flung around here in agreat while. I can watch a movie in my own home on my decent system with my own treats and drinks for a low price. Putting all that together a film would have to be pretty bad for me to not consider watching it. Im talking alan smithy bad.

Wouldn't fit the AvP (movies) story. Anyway, more sci-fi makes me happy. True it might suck but so might any film.

I thought they already had the prequel with Alien V Predator? Took a modern day society earth and plotted Aliens around the globe as humanity meet their apocolypse.
I am pretty certain that AvP isn't canon.

Ugh. The Aliens trilogy was great, I'm glad we all agree on that (Trilogy. Fuck you, resurrection and AvP). The series is dead. It was dead after #3 came out as far as I'm concerned, and shall remain that way. Yes, to be fair, there is a slim chance in hell this movie will be good. However, I'm betting its going to be another generic action flick that is only using the Alien franchise because their writer was too much of a hack to come up with his own setting.

Yeah, there's really no way it can be canon in either the aliens or predator universe without creating plot holes the size of a Mack truck. I don't see why the hell they did it in 'present day' earth anyway, seeing as all the AvP games took place around the same time as Aliens. What I wanted out of the AvP movie was a free-for-all brawl between alien hordes, marines with more guns that brains, and stealthy predators. What I got was some shit that feigned at being horror while the aliens and predators inexplicably developed super strength and the predators decided to give peace a chance.

This is no doubt going to be bad. There is no need for a new alien movie. They are just jumping on the recycle old ideas and make a shitty prequel/sequel band wagon.
