Eh, once again my country is fucked over by censorship, so no demo for me. At least I can import the game once it hits shelves.

I hear they've taken away the different character classes for each species and merely provide various skins, is that true?
Yeah, there aren't classes anymore. Although classes were added in AvP 2 (which was made by Monolith), the original AvP didn't have classes, or even different skins so it's closer to that.
Well, I didn't play the first game all that much (I had a particular dislike for the infinite enemy respawn in single player) and I thought AvP2 was a vast improvement, both offline and online... I still have high hopes for this new title, but from what I've been reading so far Rebellion apparently overlooked some very basic, yet important details regarding balancing and controls.

Well played a bit more of the demo and gotta say, the demo killed my hopes for a good game.
The gameplay feels okay. But really, there's something missing.

No crouching, the HUD of the predator looks way to busy, walking around just feels slow, turning around on the PC feels dead wrong, fucking crouch button please!, take away motion blur makes me feel sick or at least an option to turn it off, CROUCH BUTTON!, better matchmaking, stupid mics are turned on for default for some reason, CROUCH BUTTON!, singleplayer demo NOW and for godsake get a fucking crouch button.

One big pile of "MEH". Had hopes for this game.
A crouch button would be a waste of time; the marine can't stay still long enough to need it, the predator would only need it if he's sniping with the plasmacaster (the shoulder-cannon) and there's a pipe or something he wants to shoot under and the alien's on all-fours constantly (unless attacking) which I enjoy; smaller target profile so they're harder to hit.

Really, the only problem I have with the demo is the match-making system; the full game's dedicated servers'll fix that and I will thoroughly enjoy the game. Well I also don't like the mics-always-on-in-lobby thing too, but I can just take my headphones off until the game starts loading.
TF2 doesn't really need a crouch button and it still has. Hell the old AvP had crouch. What about in singleplayer? Could come in handy. But fine. It still doesn't fix that it feels like a silly console port. And has crap motion blur forced on you. I'm really disappointed with the demo, and I was looking very forward to this game.

Just release a damn singleplayer demo. How hard is that? Pick the first level of the marine campaign and released it has a demo, or something. It would have worked for most people.

Multiplayer demos are almost always shit. Hopefully some fairly serious development went into the game after they threw this demo out to door to us.

Played it, and its like FFA.

WHY WOULD THEY LET TEAM MATES KILL EACH OTHER!?!??!

Aliens are fun as hell.
What do you mean like? It is free for all. There's a team deathmatch in the final release.

Oh it is?

I had no idea. I assumed "Deathmatch" meant TDM.

Which was silly of me.

I liked it, but my two biggest complaints are when you "Stun" someone it's unbelievably easy to get them in a Stunlock, which immediately make me think 90% less of a game. Also the spawns are retarded, I appreciate an alien can get across the map in about 5 seconds, but spawning me immediately in front of a guy already firing? 3 times? In a row?

I hope to Christ that gets fixed.

I only played two games, both as the human, and both games I got 1st place. The shotgun's so damn awesome. Especially the secondary attack. Pistol on the other hand? It sucks. Aha.

Incredibly fun. Wish more people would play it though :(
I agree.

The PS3 version's matchmaking is defunct. So in order to get a game together, you have to do it through friends lists.

It works but it takes longer.
I agree with you agreeing with me.

And really? That kinda sucks if you can only play with friends.

I love the demo but it takes a while to get used to the controls, at least for the alien. It probably took me around an hour to really figure out how to use it well and im pretty sure im still missing some stuff after another hour. on top of that ive barely gotten to try out the predator and ive never played as the marine so it seems like the full game will be pretty in depth if just to find out how exactly all the characters work.

I keep getting shot/impaled in the back when I'm ripping someones head open with my claws or making a nice neat hole with my inner jaws.

Do many people have a problem with the motion blur? I quite like it, the alien would be way too over-powered without it, there has to be some trade off for its amazing bursts of speed. Love the ceiling jumping, was in a match with a Pred player who was camped out on a ledge high up in the largest room, and just scuttled along the side wall, leapt to an overhanging platform and slithered up behind the fucker to give him a nice hole where his mandibles should be.

Can't wait for the survivor and infestation modes in the real game. When a few marines get together in a room they're really tough to take down. I'm really impressed with everything except how long it takes to set up a match...

I think the controls on the PS3 are a bit more intuitive than on the PC, since I've tried both versions, but that's just me. I gotta say, even if the Aliens have it the easiest, I just love to stick to walls and jump at people from the ceiling. I'm in absolute love with the Aliens. I'm probably missing out on the Predator and Marine, but I just love to locate a good target from a safe spot and then quickly move in for the kill.

Just played another game and I gotta confirm I'm hooked on the Aliens. Those creatures are just so Awesome!

Edit : For those who say the game is unbalanced, I must say that I've tried the Marine and finished the match with the second place. I think the score was 1st: 22 points, 2nd: 18 points and 3rd: 14 points.

What I find funny is that in some matches the scores are very evenly spread, but in others the top two or three players (most often including me) are completely dominating the rest of the players.

I tried it. It was fun but I wisht that there was a single player demo not just a multiplayer demo. I actually want to play a level as the Predator not just playing as one in a free-for-all clusterfuck.

I hated the demo. The main reason being that my computer is slow as shit when it comes to playing games like that. I will get a new graphics card, I will!

The classic experiment of game to movie.(or movie to game) Will it work this time?
You do realize that the AVP franchise has existed long before the craptastic movies were released right? And that there have been two games previous to this on PC?

Anyways Welcome to the Escapist. It's safer here.

Well this was a disappointment. They might as well call the game "Press X To Kill". Lengthy instakill animations? That kind of stuff is for finishing off a miniboss in a single player game, not for fast-paced multiplayer games. Battles now turn into the players circling around each other and whoever sees the other's back and mashes the X button first wins. Retarded.
And they even messed up my favorite thing from AvP, the Marine's motion sensor. It's far too small and unclear on the screen. Ugh. How hard can it be to not mess up a winning formula? AvP2 was great, all they had to do was polish up the graphics, add some more maps and modes, and voila.
It pains me to say this but I don't think I'll be buying this game. Unless they get rid of the Fuck You button in the final version and make some other big changes as well, but that seems high unlikely. I'm a sad panda.
