I loved the original game more than life itself. This trailer has made me 72 different kinds of happy.

Alice was one of the first pc games I ever got (the original AvP was closer to my first though) and it was an amazing game. It blew my mind how trippy the game was especially using the Quake II engine. I really hope this game stays true to the original and is just as fun and trippy.
It was Quake 3. No way it could have been pulled off in Quake 2 . . . especially the hall of mirrors level.
Thanks for the correction. I must have been tired while typing.

..What the crap? I remember Alice in Wonderland (Disney) being like random but nice. Even the realistic movie was a bit dark but it was ok overall. This, this is Madness! (lol Sparta!) Besides that on a serious tone, I literally love the graphics and creativity the put into this. Plus, very disturbing at the end I wasn't expecting that. This might be a good game but seriously.. I was shocked.
Us Alice fans invite you to play the first game.. it's quite dated now (~11 years) but well worth it.

Funny how the author is fighting to not increase the violence and gore of the game, turning it in a Resident Evil 5 or Mortal Kombat (so much violence, that violence becomes meaningless).

I would really like to see some gameplay vids of this. I played the first one, and other than some control issues I thought it was done really well.

Hoping this one does even better!

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the first one that'll play on Vista? Or will I need to get some sort of os emulator?

(I'm asking for legal means, obviously)
The original is insanely hard to find. Copies are no longer produced so expect to pay a mint for a used copy off of Amazon or E-Bay. One would think that an 11 year-old game should be cheap, but this one gained such a cult status that copies go upwards of $50-$70 because they're so rare now.

As an interesting contrast, here is the launch trailer for the original game back in 2000:
I do like how in the new trailer, the look on her face when she's first sitting at the table is more of annoyance than anger or fear. It's like she's saying "Look guys, you already know how this is going to go down. You're going to attack me at which point I'm going to take this knife and murder the shit out of you. So cut the crap and just get on with it already."

The strange thing is, Alice was 17-18 years old in the original, so she would be in her mid-20s in the sequel, but they made her almost look younger for some reason. However, rendered stills from the game have Alice looking much more adult and closer to the original model than in the trailer:
]
At any rate, I want it. If the artwork is even close so as weird and surreal as the first game, and the disturbing atmosphere is done well, I'll fork over the cash to play it.

Well, $50-70 isn't that bad. That's about the price of a new console game. My time would probably be better spent playing this old gem than a new samey game someone just released.

Any idea whether it'll play on current versions of windows? Or will I spend more time trying to get it to work than playing it?

Say, what console was the original on? I enjoy twisted versions of happy things...
Orginal was a PC only release on the quake 3 engine, but in design terms it was a very console type game (third person platform/shooter)

Alice's adventures in wonderland wasn't quite as dark as this reimagining but it wasn't as happy as the disney movie either, the book is quite violent in places (in terms of threats of violence rather than actual combat)

I'm growing so fucking weary of the whole "let's take a fairy tale and make it dark" shtick. The first American McGee's Alice was gothing it up so much it was nausiating. (And this was back in the day when I kinda liked goth.)
And is Alice supposed to look like a meth addict? I guess it's all about driving the point forward that she's all dark and twisted and devil may care. *sigh*

I guess I'll go watch the Disney movie; The actual good Alice in Wonderland.

Oh wow I remember that Alice game, I'm gonna do download it now I suppose.

This do look good, if it's anything like the last one at least.
