I am thoroughly underwhelmed. It was pretty, but lacking. Still, I do want to play it. A lot.

If this comes out on a console, I will be bagging that game so fast... It's good to see that a new Alice is being worked on, Mr McGee - if you're wanting to top your previous Alice, you have one helluva game to follow.

If it was me, I'd probably wind up taking another kids property that while not unknown isn't being retreaded quite as much. I look at "The Wizard Of Oz" as having a lot of potential for a "twisted" approach that hasn't been exploited. We've had "Tin Man" and a few books like "Wicked" written with alternative takes on it, but it's not currently being as retreaded as much as "Alice". What's more I don't think anyone has really done a mature-themed Oz video game.
Todd MacFarlane did a toy line called the "Twisted Land of Oz" which I desperately hope to see a animated series or film made based after the line.

Especially how the munchkins have put Dorothy in bondage gear and looking like the Joker's midget henchmen from the Killing Joke.

suck it, Burton
Exactly what I was thinking; why he decided to use a screenplay as stupid as that I will never know (though his films have been sliding down as of late, so maybe he's just over-the-hill). Anyway, hopefully this turns out to be good.
He's gone the way of George Lucas. Milking his property while being bat-guano crazy. Makes me wonder what original thing he's done since Corpse Bride and Sweeny Todd(Sweeny Todd is a different story since he has his techniques but it isn't terrible or embarrassing to look at).

He should probably do a film adaptation of chainsaw maid. It looks up his alley due to the nostalgic suburban look to the house.

What is there about crazy girls that's so sexy? lol, maybe I'm just messed up like that ;)

Game looks pretty sweet and insane, beautiful artwork and very nice animation - if that's at all indicative of the final product, it's looking like a must-buy!

I never pre-order games; even when there is some great pre-order bonus...but I will pre-order this to make sure I get it on launch day. The last Alice was great...I must have beat it ten times before I got tired of the happy-go-lucky-yet-dark-and-creepy-and-insane feeling of that game. I hope it gets leaked early (it isn't piracy if you have already paid for the preorder!).

Alice was one of the first pc games I ever got (the original AvP was closer to my first though) and it was an amazing game. It blew my mind how trippy the game was especially using the Quake II engine. I really hope this game stays true to the original and is just as fun and trippy.
It was Quake 3. No way it could have been pulled off in Quake 2 . . . especially the hall of mirrors level.

I really wanted to like the first game... but they choose the dullest engine of all time to make it on. I gave up after about three levels of depressingly brown levels. I know there was various bits of color splashed about, but it looked like someone just went around with a paintbrush trying to disguise the fact that everything was frakkin' brown. Checking out YouTube walkthroughs confirmed it didn't get much better.

That and third person PC shooters at that time had such awful aiming. It wasn't until I was re-introduced to third person shooters on the PS3 that I stopped reflexively hating them.

The new trailer looks like an Alice game should look.

Just curious, but why the spoiler tag? It's made pretty clear that they died in a fire in the opening cutscene of the first game, or if I'm wrong it was a trailer for the first game.
Precisely my point, it makes no sense as far as I can tell. However, if that was a secret, I wouldn't want to go ruining the suprise.

Tis but a trailer Root. Tell me true, have we not been burned by the smoke and trickery of what -could- be before? For what it is, tis a fine trailer, but tis no game sooth.
Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said: "one can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

I still believe in impossible things.
...I love you for posting that quote.

Wha...? We already know how her family died!
They were revealed to have burned alive, were they not? The Jabberwocky scolded Alice in the first game for letting them die while she dreamed, Alice was quite aware of what happened, I think.
Are we going to have a mystery we already know the answer to, shouting it at the screen every time someone acts like the first game never happened?
Maybe the mystery is whether or not she did it. It was implied in the first game that the fire that killed her parents which in turn drove her mad was an accident. If it wasn't...

I still haven't played the original game. It needs to be remade or digitally re-released.

I was waiting for some new Alice information, and this has once again got me excited. Awesome trailer, and I quite like American's claim to a subtle approach. Just hope he can stand behind that claim and not turn it into a generic, horror themed beat-em-up. Otherwise, the designs are great, and the premise sounds interesting - a lack of gameplay footage is a little worrying though.

I don't like the trailer, seems overdone and pretentious, and i don't like the animation style. But its just a trailer, ive been "fooled" by those before, and the game might turn out to be interesting. Never played the first game.

End of 2011 release date? Are they mad? There's at least 5 AAA titles coming out then. Do they not care about sales numbers? I guess they figure their niche audience (myself included) will purchase the game anyway, but what about the rest?
