The high school i graduated still has a vending machine to this day that costs only 50 cents. But thats rare.

Most are a strait dollar.

That 50 cent machine is in Yakima Washington. I live in Tacoma now and they're a dollar

I loled

OT: I just drove across 2/3 of the country (Chicago to San Francisco) and I saw the price of a can of coke vary from $0.65 up to $1.25 in vending machines and a 12-pack vary in prices from $4.50 to $7.00. The standard price I quote is from a suburb of San Francisco, $0.70 in a vending machine and $5.00 for a 12-pack.
I think the price of a can of Coke is directly related to property tax rates. I'm personally offended at how much I'm being forced to pay. I mean, it's not as God awful as the rest of the world buying American products, but enough to warrant forum kvetching.

If you mean the 12oz. Aluminum (or metal at least) can from a vending machine (if you can find a machine that sells cans) is usually about 75 cents. If it's being sold from a vendor stand or restaurant the can goes for about 80 to 85 cents.
If you meant the 20 oz. bottles, vending machines sell them for $1.25 to 1.50. At stores (Wal-Mart, Target etc.) they usually sell for between 99 cents (usually crush or sunkist) and $1.50.

I'm doing a maths assignment on foreign currencies. For this maths assignment I need the price of a certain item in different countries, one of which is America. Unfortunately google has proved (surprisingly) unhelpful in this venture so I'll ask you, Escapist Community. How much does a standard can of coke cost in America? (please include details such as city and source, eg vending machine/restuarant/supermarket).

Edit: Thanks all for help, got my info (and very speedy too!)
Does canadian can help. Currently, our dollars are worth as much as americans and it's still 1.25$ for a can of Coke, Pepsi, Freska, Montain Dew and any soft drink.

Harr Harr, Try living in Wayne.

At least you guys have Hideaway.

Which is delicious.

And the reason there isn't a good answer is that we're so sucking big. I mean really, I drove t Georgia recently, and I gawked at how much cheaper things were, and I live one state away! Hell, things are cheaper in Northern Florida compared to the part where I live.

But anyways.

18oz bottle - $.99 (that's a coke national thing so that should be consistent)
20 oz bottle- $1.25 from a vending machine/ 1.19 at the gas station by my house
16 oz can- I think .60, not particularly sure. At least at the vending machine at me school they were

Los Angeles, California reporting in. A single 12 oz. can could vary between 65 cents (supermarket vending machine), to $1.25 (convenience store, gas station). While I haven't been to a theme park in a few years, I do remember that it cost $2.00 for that same can.

Canadian machines sure rip off us off, compared to your rates.

$1.50 for a can

$2.00 for a bottle

$4.00 for a 2-litre at a store as you can't buy them in vending machines here

OT: Whenever I've been in the states, the rate is usually $1-$1.75 for a bottle.

A math assignment, you say? The question that you pose to us sounds like it has very little math to it, and is more like research. I'm guessing that the actual question is asking you to translate a certain amount of whatever currency your nation uses to dollars, in which case, this [http://www.google.com/finance/converter] may be helpful.

In the average gas station in New York a coke costs $1.80 plus 8% tax.
This. After living in Australia it was heaven having it so cheap. $3 was shelled out every time I wanted a fizzy drink in Aus.

depends on what kind of store you go to and what store is that kind of store you went to, like you go to costco you can probably get a 12 pack of coke for about 4-6$ now you go to a gas station it'll probably be around 6-8$ for a 12 pack, but if you want just a lone coke, it'll be around 1-2$
