sounds like the fanboy logic when someone describes a broken "classic",usually right before tehy say regenning health and save points have made the new generation of gamers pussies.

Of course I havent played so iw ouldnt know.

Howard Scott Warshaw quipped that, since he made the widely acclaimed Yar's Revenge and the universally detested E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, he had the greatest range of any game designer in history. Now I wonder... if Amy is as bad as people say, Paul Cuisset's range comes quite close: he also made one of the best games ever, Flashback.

You forgot something.

Anyway, I really wanted to try the game but after these lack-luster comments, I'm starting to look the other way.

My response to this is the same as to every argument like it. If you have to justify why a game sucks, then you are wrong. If a game sucks it's because you did a bad job making it. Any justification no matter how creative or even correct it is doesn't make the game any better then it is. End of story.

Maybe I'd be inclined to believe the devs, but 22% critical success rating?
All of those critics can't be wrong, can they?

Well, this is a shame. I liked the concept and was gonna give this a try at some point, regardless of reviews, when the price point dropped a bit. After this reaction? Yeah, no.
I actually considered buying it until I hit the demo, it has so many crushing technical issues that as the reviewers say, it just actively prevents you from playing it.

On a side note, if you had planned to get it on the xbox, that "wait til the price drops" thing you guys like to do isn't gonna work out. I can't recall the cost of any XBLA title or game on demand, or DLC for that matter, going down in price ever. Im pretty sure they don't ever update those prices, there's games from 3 years ago that were a pile of shite THEN on the marketplace that are still 40 bucks.

This doesn't count the occassional sale or deal obviously. Honestly, there are ALOT of games on the marketplace I would buy if they were actually priced appropriately for their age/quality the way gamestop or steam do it.

Really though, indie games don't ever really drop in price, because they are pretty cheap to begin with, so even considering that "wait til the price goes down" is damn near becoming a meme in itself, I'm suprised anyone really believes you can just wait out the cost.

Hey, AMY developers. There's this game out right now called Dark Souls. Not only is it hard as f**k, but it's a critical darling, and has succeeded financially as well.
So....why would they love a game specifically designed to make your life miserable, and hate your game which you claim is also difficult?
You're not making sense.

This video sums up my every little thought on the subject matter

Seriously, screw any company that tries to use this excuse so it doesnt have to listen to basic criticism. just GAAAH
lol, i was thinking about this one as well when i read this article. i saw the trailer here and found a video of the guy playing it, and he also said that the controls are sloppy but the game as such is still alright, and thats his first impression so far. he was playing it on the xbox.

@rhizhim
i also think this game looks interesting and different. from the looks of it, i would not say it will become a game of the year, but entertaining to play. lets hope the pc version will be easy to play.

It looks like they're tying to ride off Dark Souls' success with this statement by saying, "But you guys loved those hard games, why not ours?"

Poor form, VectorCell. Poor form.

Did you really think I would make it that easy for you when I could make you go looking for it on your own?
Fair enough, deviousness isn't direct diabolical intent after all.

Though one can argue that you're just taking credit for coincidental habitual behavior, since links to TV Tropes make up about a third of my posts.

Okay, first thing, usually, a three or four rating on xbox live is bad. Even the most average can get to four. Three is bad. Don't ask me why, that's just the way it seems to work on xbox live.

Then there's what's wrong. During my trial time, I never died. I came close due to s*** controls, and a stupidly dark maximum brightness setting, but I didn't die. Those weren't the most frustrating parts, though. The most frustrating parts were not knowing how the inventory works, the button to take a health injection just plain not working, and then that supposed injection not really working either, searching around for ages for bairly visible pools of blood using a radar with no sense of the enviorment whatsoever, my character having the speed and turning circle of a giant turtle, and having damagable weapons, which I thought we all agreed hardly ever works out well.

All in all, I found it difficult to believe the same people who came up with such an interesting subject had the staggering stupidity to mess it all up so completely, and then the further stupidity to say that we all just hate it because it's hard, and then the stupidity so great it's surprising these people survived past age ten without coming to some incredibly stupid end as to expect that to work.

Vectorcell, I didn't know of you before AMY. And now I never want to see you again.

Oh, they're going to be one of those.

I'm sure its upsetting, but its pretty obvious that hard games do get a good reception (Dark Souls), and none of the complaints I've read were about it being hard.

And in the case of the checkpoints, that's called artificial difficulty.
