Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, God of War III, Demon's Soul, Final Fantasy XIII, and the reports of the big increases in PS3 sales all report the contrary. But hey, I'm no analyst.

Looks like a good year, but Natal...really?

We've seen these devices fail, a lot of times.

Wait, what are Microsoft's other exclusive titles this year... I couldn't remember anything at all, but it looks like another Halo side-story (see ODST) and Alan Wake?

Sony releases more second-party titles, and are less afraid of being unpopular in order to push the envelope on game design. Demon's Souls hardcore difficulty and PvP, MAG's multiplayer specs, Heavy Rain, Last Guardian (hopefully). Microsoft rolls with safe bets in order to get high sales numbers but it makes the software lineup a lot less interesting. Also a lot of their exclusives are just timed, I think it's becoming obvious that patience and a PS3 gets you a lot more.

I think MS' only shot at getting their sexy back is announcing the XBox420 or whatever they're gonna call the next generation. One big advantage they've got is that their customers are used to re-buying hardware on a frequent basis anyway.

I don't undertsand what's so funny about "Gem". Please explain.
I mean if you were to make jokes like "Arc the Rod" I could kind of still get the appeal but Gem doesn't strike any funny chords.
It's truly outrageous. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNqrWm1M3Sc] What, did you miss that one? It was all over the 'Pist when that codename was announced.

It seems like we have a mutual non-understanding of each others jokes. What's so funny about "Arc the Rod"?

The Xbox 360 also currently heads the game sales chart with Mass Effect 2 and are by far the most popular platform for the monster hit that is Modern Warfare 2. This presages a year in which there will be a succession of huge titles that are not available on the other consoles. For any game enthusiast these make owning a 360 essential, even if it is in addition to owning other consoles.
Last time I checked the Wii was currently dominating sales charts, by a lot. I still don't think it's essential to pick up a 360, just like it isn't essential to pick up a PS3 or Wii. Last console that was essential was maybe the PS2, but that's a bit of a stretch, so maybe the original Gameboy.

Honestly? I don't expect much from Natal or Gem. Yes, I'm still calling it that. I refuse to let a great joke die.

Mass Effect 2 isn't anymore reason to own a 360 than Heavy Rain, MGS4, Uncharted 2 and GOW3 are to own a 360.
I heard NoMore Heroes 2 is also a pretty good reason to own a 360.
Excuse me, but I've never heard of that game, probably because I only own a PS3. I was just saying in my comment above that the reason that man gave for Xbox 360 dominating was a little weak.

the sales of them didn't fail though.

Thus, creates a motive for all the other companies to start making their own.

The sad truth really....

Oh god, PLEASE don't use natal to make the 360 and the Wii identical. Natal and all the other motion sensitive fads will cause a balloon in the population of 8 year olds on Xbox Live.
FINALLY someone who has said something about the problem.

It kinda comes down to who can sell the most consoles (wow, I thought of that all by myself).

What I mean is, who can entice people to buy more? From my opinion (solely my opinion here) I don't want to get a PS3. Heavy Rain is the closest they've come to tempting me, but unless they can release something which drags me kicking and screaming from ME2, Halo and Lost Odyssey, then I'll just stick it out with my 360.

That said, some people really will buy a PS3 just to own MGS4, GoW3 and HR (I'm not implying this is the only reason, I'm just implying that for a lot of people, the big games will be). It's whether 360 can entice more people with their massive FPS list, RPGs and mainstream game titles, or whether the PS3 can build on its solid core fanbase.

God only knows what's going to happen to the Wii, and I still reckon the DS is the clear winner here.

Haha, okay that isn't bad at all. Didn't know that show but if Sony were to use that song in a commercial I might just have to buy the damn thing out of principle.

There's a game called Arc the Lad that was developed by Sony and...that's it for my joke. Didn't say it was any good :p.

It sounds very much to me as though this man is being paid off, considering he doesn't even mention the other consoles, even though they each have equally good upcoming exclusives. You'd think upcoming title such as Heavy Rain and God of War (PS3) and Metroid: Other M, Galaxies 2, Red Steel 2, and a new Zelda (Wii) which will be coming out 2010/2011 would be worthy of note, yet he mentions none of these. Natal has thus far been unable to impress me. I believe that sales and market domination will be the same in 2010 as they have been throughout the rest of this console generation.

Um, I'm sorry. So because I don't own a specific machine in what is, quite literally, a world full of them, I am not an enthusiast in the hobbies that I pursue. My apologies but this statement is absolutely ridiculous. This is like saying that I'm not a musician if I don't use a specific brand of instrument, and though I may not own a Les Paul, if you say I'm not a guitarist, 9 years of practical study and performance sort of begs to differ.

I think that 360 is in dead last, actually. The Wii of course is on top, financially speaking and the PS3 follows shortly thereafter. But the 360 really seems to lack exclusives this year, where the PS3 sees a bit more success this time around.

I thought everybody was expecting this to be the year that the PS3 finally caught up, due to some of its high-profile exclusive like God of War 3, Heavy Rain, and MAG finally being released. And I thought everyone was bashing Natal.

I guess I don't really know though, but it looks to me like the PS3 is the console on the upward trend.
