Really, regardless of the merits of their claims regarding Facebook & privacy, I can't think of a way to turn more people against them faster than by attacking Facebook. Especially if they succeed.

Also, I suppose it wouldn't be hard to fake an anyonymous release. it's just speech synth overlaid on a fuzzy title card.

Anyways, I don't see it happening. Either from it just being a big ol' fake or the fact that your not going to be able to take down facebook without what would basically be 75% of the planet turning against you because of it... that and if you want to take them down and 'destroy' them, why exactly are you giving them a warning and time to prepare for it? Surely they can will be able to put in some procedures to help prevent a total collapse of their site... but I'm not tech guy so I don't really now... This site really is just full of misanthropes and the socially awkward. I mean, I'm certainly not facebooks biggest fan. Just another way for people to keep tabs on you. But I don't dislike it for the reasons you all seem to.

Like it or lump it. It's a great way for us people with friends to keep in contact over long distances and arrange nights out etc.

I can't tell you how many text messages that website has saved.

Rules for enjoying facebook.

1: Use a pseudoname.

2: Say nothing incriminating... ever.

3: If you can't obey rule 2. Only say incriminating things in safe private messages.

4: Only use your wall to post funny jokes you heard or tales of funny incidents that might of happened. We don't need a constant life story. There are blogs for that.

5: Only add and accept people you genuinely like. If you have over 500 friends, you're kidding yourself. 50-150 is probably slightly more accurate.

Stick to those 5 rules and you will have a pleasant time on facebook. Social interaction is good, M'kay.

i broke rule 1, and i have a common name apparently. if you were to google my name you would get a bunch of people, none of them me.
OT: well i hope they have fun with this. it seems like theyre big fans of Google+.

My thoughts exactly, and as I said in one of the lulzsec topics, if you want strict controls and new laws placed on the internet, then rampantly hacking popular things is the best way to go about that.

If parents suddenly get upset about things being hacked, do you think the politicians will form a committee to get the bottom of why the hackers are upset, and work it out? Or will they go with what they think will look better to voters and propose controls to be put in place?

I don't buy it. This isn't Anonymous' style at all. Say what you will about their methods, but it all serves a purpose. Everything they do is free speech and freedom of information. Taking down Facebook doesn't help that goal in anyway shape or form. Also, November 5th? A group as big as Anonymous wouldn't need anywhere near that much prep time.
Worst case scenario, Facebook is DDoS'ed for a day, tops.

Ah it's a great day to have been invited to Google+. Later Facebook,it's been nice knowing ya-oh who the fuck am I kidding. Funny thing? They tried that before and the most anyone got was a bit of lag when using it.

This particular group of anonymous people don't seem as professional as the others anyway. I mean, they're using MS Sam for christ sake. >.> I realise its a perfectly valid way to keep your voice hidden, but seriously? Half the people they would want to recruit who have any hacking knowledge or any knowledge of how to get past security for facebook (such as myself, woo, security training ftw) are probably going to turn it off just from that annoying voice.
