Lame set-up is lame.

Where is the humor? Where is the Anonymous Logo? Where is the "We are legion" quote?
It's fucking lame! That's definitely not what they would do. There is no motive what-so-ever as far as I am concerned.

Anyone fooled by it so far really need to learn what 'character traits' are.

You can't pursue a unified cause of this scale if you don't have a power structure. You'd think that was obvious, but apparently Anon is paying for that now.

Wait... So an anarchist sect of an anarchist group broke off and is now rampaging the internet. What did Square Enix do to piss them off? Or are these double anarchists just wrecking everything they see? At any rate it's stupid. Square Enix is one of the few gaming companies that is fairly innocent. Hacking them is just uncalled for.

This is proof that excessive amount of power in the hands of a group or an individual can only corrupt.

Seriously Anonymous... what happened to protecting the consumers and the people?

Seriously, why? What is a good reason for all this shit?
They need to grow up, it's beyond a joke now.

*sigh* what's with people taking stuff like this on face value these days?

Everybody can claim their network/site was hacked.
Everybody can claim that 'Anon did it'.

You know, it's kinda convenient how you can claim some nebulous shadowy techno terrorist organisation h4x3d you to cover up your own incompetence. Especially since such group can include everybody and their mom. And such a group has no actual public face, so it's not like anyone can even deny responsibility.

Thing is, the kind of stuff from anon groups tend to be either somewhat activist in nature, or just dramatic for the lulz. Random nonsense like this? Not quite..

I'm not claiming this are *not* as they are said, but keep in mind that anon has made a lot of enemies that wouldnt care wheter they caught the people behind the masks for the right or wrong reasons, as long as they are made an example of.

I'm getting really tired of these fuckers. Someone please shut their asses down. Hard.

So damn pointless. Go hack terrorist assets or something, better yet, set yourselves on fire then jump off a cliff. Screwing over innocent people at random is just so stupid.
Hackers are Mongolians and the internet is your City Wall. Every time they break it down, you build it back stronger. Had this never happened, security would be a lie, in fact technology as a whole may have slowed down. To allow for faster decryption, processing and encryption/transmission of data, newer tech was developed that could accommodate to "Higher Security Challenges". This technology was then made 'user friendly' which did 2 things; allowed for prior generation of technology to be re purposed for a consumer level use, but it also allowed hackers easier access. It's a big puzzle of sliding pieces, and some people do it as a career, some people do it malevolently, some people allow themselves to be tools in the attacks [DDoS nodes, botnet's] But the thing they all have in common is a goal. One goal, to take down their target. But for no hackers; not in today's society and probably not ever. It's not their goal to permanently remove their target. Because that would end the cat and mouse game.

We have hackers to thank for our technology today, for having this forum to rant about how annoying they are. It gets inconvenient sometimes sure, but I've always just viewed it as an impromptu service update. :/
I am fully aware of this and how it can strengthen our understanding of computer sciences but the same could be done without hurting people way they do. Stealing their info and sharing it and posting online it is just malicious. Some people have had their lives ruined because of this sort of thing.

Many hackers and virus creators are no better than some lunatic who goes on a shooting rampage. Randomly hurting innocent people at complete random is just pure bullshit. You don't know what effect it will have on people you don't know. You don't know their situation, their ability to deal with the problem. It's just so irresponsible and a waste of talent for those who are actually good at it and don't rely on bots and other crap.

The whole situation with the playstation network? A lot of people really enjoy that. And it's the livelihood for their employees and their families. Do you think the significant financial impact this will have on Sony is helping anyone? What about the governments that get tax money from the revenue? And then send that money to improve schools, medical research, etc. People lose entertainment, people are less likely to get raises, their get stressed and it may hurt their personal lives. And there are other companies/people who make their living via the Playstation Network and rely on it for revenue. Again, the same problems in turn affect them, and so on. I could go on and on but that's the idea.

Oh for crying out loud, Anonymous, really? You're going to throw toddler tantrums and disrupt the rest of us because you won't play nicely together any more? I used to quite like Anonymous when they were kicking the asses of those who deserved it, but now they're back to their initial juvenille crap.

This vicious cycle is just going to keep going isn't it? A leopard really doesn't change its spots...

There is no evidence Anonymous is behind this... This could be pulled off by any individual or group of hackers.

I call bullshit. It's too convenient an explanation.
Agreed.
Plus they're called Anon for a reason. If the person doing it showed his identity, whether internet or real, Anon will deny any claims of the hacker belonging to them, even if he was with them to begin with.
It's gotta be some smaller faction of hackers, or a lone hacker who did this.

This article name is misleading, just the word "hacker" is fine. Anonymous would not hack Eidos there is no "lol" or retribution there. I do despise hackers who go for selfish gain, but what I despise more are the people who group an entire populace together for the actions of few, like the racial profiling after 9/11.

Now Square-Enix need to send their cybernetically enhanced corporate mercenaries to track down and eliminate the hackers. That would be cool.

What do you mean they don't have any? This is the 21st century. The future is now!

Fuck off.

I don't care if it's Anon anymore, I wish every hacker on the planet would just fall over and die.
Yeah, and while we're at it, how about every gamer, every cop, every soldier... fuck it. Let's just find every demographic that has had a few of its members do horrible things, and kill 'em all. At the end, there won't be any one left to do horrible things. Granted, there won't be anyone left to do horrible things to either, but dammit, I don't care if the world has more complexity and subtlety than I'm prepared to deal with, I've made my blanket judgments and I'm sticking to them!

/sarcasm
Hell yes! That's sounds like an awesome idea.
Hackers? Dead. Pirates? Dead. Ninjas? Dead. Politicians? Dead. Alcoholics? Dead. Taxmen? Dead. Tax evaders? Dead. CEOs? Dead. Postal workers? Dead. Teenagers? Dead. People under 30? Dead. People over 30? Dead.
Sounds like a good start. Can we extend that plan to the rest of the animal kingdom? Sloths are a bunch of jerks.

OT, I highly doubt this is legit a group of Anons. Deus Ex is a sacred cow to most of the ones I know, and the idea of even threatening the creation of a new game in the series would be to them what slapping a nun would be to a Christian.

I do certainly hope you caught the sarcasm in my previous post. No, it wasn't a very delicately worded statement I made but I thought it'd be obvious that I didn't actually mean that every hacker in the world needs to die. Just the assholes.
I'm being technical but I believe the term Cracker would serve you better to distinguish your precise meaning.
Is it bad that it took me a couple seconds to figure out that you weren't talking about kind you eat? I'll be sure to use that in the future, thanks.
