"This will be your future" - From that website's image
Doesn't anyone find that a bit hypocritical? When keeping within the lines of the anti-tyranny theme, it's like saying "We are not tyrants, now, get in the mines".

Anyhow the whole idea behind Annonymous is preposterous, much like anarchy, eventually leaders will (If they haven't already) form within the community and they become the very thing they opposed in the first place, an organised society with defined leaders and elites, people with more power behind their words than others, even if they are hidden behind a facade.

And as for the social network itself, a social network of anonymous people would just be like a forum, with easily directed public trolling of individuals allowed.
It could only work as a propper social network if the people in it identified themselves, throwing the whole anonymous thing out the window.

Bottom line is, in my opinion, like communism, it's a good idea in theory, but in practice... I guess we shall see.

To be honest I'm more afraid of the community of Anonymous than our supposed tyranical rulers. At least they're predictable and have to follow protocol.

Yes, nothing like tyrants denouncing tyranny. This is a recruitment effort probably. Now the question is it to recruit people to the "cause" or just cattle to feed on.

An anonymous social network.... you mean like a forum? Like IRC? Don't those two things pretty much have this angle covered?

So McCain calls for the FBI to pursue Anonymous, and they go and announce 'We're launching a social network for all the members of Anon?'

I don't buy it. Given how anyone can claim to be Anon, I think someone's trollin'.

I think what it's meant to be is a social network for everyone, without the censorship and whatnot.
Not specifically for anon members.

So does that mean we can just Arrest (and preferably shoot) everyone on it and get rid of this plague once and for all?

Or at least DDOS it?

Every part of this that makes no sense or plainly won't work can be traced back to the fact that they're supposed to be anonymous.

a) If you're whole angle is based on being anonymous then why would you even remotely want your identity and information to be online? Argueably the main function of a social networking site is so people can get to know each other online and share information, you need to be open and social on a social networking site.

b) How are Anonymous being shunned? If you're anonymous then it means no-one knows who you are, how can you shun someone you don't even recognise? If you're being shunned for being Anonymous then it means you definately weren't anonymous.

c) Facebook, Twitter and all other social sites that are allegedly 'oppressing' them with 'terror, tyranny and blackouts' are (for the most part) privately owned sites (none of them are government run), as such, as long as they pay to run the site (which most of them do through advertising) then they are entitled to do whatever the hell they please with it. If they don't want you on there for whatever reason, it's their site and their rules, they aren't being 'tyranical' or 'oppressive', you're just being self entitled. Trying to claim that they're 'stripping your right to freedom of speech/expression' shows you clearly don't fully understand what the concept behind 'freedom of speech/expression' is (namely, it is governments who cannot censor, cut or threaten you for having a public opinion unless there is in fact a valid reason for it being incorrect or offensive, individuals and companies can do whatever the hell they like in that regard).

What a bunch of conceited, egotistical, self-serving, self-important, insular dick sandwiches! They go around slapping everyone in the face and then have the nerve to be perturbed when no one wants to be friends with them. What in the hell did they expect? Milk and cookies?

Of course, the whole thing will only result in another action by Anonymous that accomplishes nothing useful or edifying for anyone, not even Anonymous. It'll just be a bunch of Anons talking to themselves(which they already do by other means; so, the whole thing really is just wasted effort), cause I doubt any sane, rational human being would ever want to join their social network.

So how long will this take before 4-Chan invades it and ruins everything? My guess is about 5 months after it goes live.
More like five hours.

I believe that most of you hating on anon are simply pissed off cause of the PSN hacking. Even if they say themselves that they didnt do it, even if it goes against their beliefs, even if it doesnt make sense that they would do it. It is all about YOU being hurt directly by what they had supposedly done. While when they were attacking Scientology, Visa and Mastercard... all of you approved.

Also social networks with all users being anonymous makes sense. There was internet before Facebook, and the internet could be social regardless. Your identity isnt through your name and status, but your beliefs and ideas.

I give them thumbs up, and all you haters can glare at my shiney ass

What they don't tell you is that your PC automatically becomes a bot/digital dead-drop upon accessing the site.

I never thought about that. What happens when someone DDOS's Anon? Is that like dividing by zero?
