Anyone Else Getting Sick of MLP?

Thanks for the compliments. Anyway, I don't mind the crossovers where the tone shouldn't match (although sometimes it really does work. Fallout: Equestria anyone?) but I have to agree with you on the erotic art and stories. I've seen some things man.

No, get out. Fallout: Equestria is the dumbest thing I've seen on the internet and I was on /b/ for flour girl. Fallout and ponies go together like lead piping and sanity, if you have one the other gets messed with so badly you've lost it. I love Fallout and tolerate ponies but when you take a setting reknowned for dark humour, comically overt violence and an exploration of human nature and our natural tendency to conflict and put ponies in it you've done something I cannot allow to stand. Like Fallout, like Ponies, walk around the mojave with Boone in an MLP shirt (that mod exists btw) but don't mix the two up like that. Fallout is about people, humans and human nature, if you replace all the people with small, magical horses then what's the point? It's lost everything that made it Fallout, leaving nuclear craters and a little 50s retro setting.

That's utterly just... wrong. War is hell. Fire rains from the skies and civilisation dies because greedy cowards wanted the last resources on earth for themselves. There's no brave leaders, no glorious battle. Life is violent, bloody, short and also hilarious in its madness, that's the essence of the series and if you want to make stuff related to it please keep the tone. The tone's the good bit anyway, that and the retro-futuristic theme. Losing one of those leaves you with something far less interesting and not really worth bothering with, post-apocalyptic survival has been done to death since before Fallout 1 anyway.

Come to think of it, I think I just have a problem with the person who wrote Fallout: Equestria.

I'm more sick of jackasses giving the whole fanbase more attention than it deserves. If strange, emotionally repressed people want to jerk off to pony-human hybrid porn, WHO GIVES A SHIT. They can do whatever the fuck they want. They can have their memes and endless flow of jpegs. What really bothers me is people constantly bringing up this god damn topic of "Oh gee willikers, those bronies sure are doofuses, right you guys?" and inciting ANOTHER FUCKING BATTLEGROUND for people to ***** and moan about what is socially acceptable and how "Nah duudee, not all bronies are the saaamee, maaaaannn".

If you really want these people to stop getting in your face, then go look in the mirror and take notes, because you need to consider your own damned criticism.

And you know what, I'm calling it right now, I'm going to get a shitload of flak for this post, because people are going to skim right through it and regard it as nothing but "That crystalsnow guy whining again", but I'm putting it up anyway, because for the people who DO read this through, and DO pay attention to what I'm saying, then listen to what I'm about to tell you.

Stop making these fucking threads. Stop bitching about every little nuance you come across on the internet. Stop giving attention to a group of people who deserve little more than an sidelong glance. Stop forming "sides" in arguments that serve no purpose and will never end. And for the love of god STOP SEARCHING FOR SHIT YOU DIDN'T WANT TO SEARCH FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. This may come as a shock to some of you intellectual wizards, but the internet works in such a way that you actually get to search for stuff you're interested in, RATHER THAN STUFF THAT PISSES YOU OFF.

This shit is all over the place already, and its only going to get worse. And at some point you have to realize that, and just.deal.with.it.

It's happened before, though this is a little bigger than last time. We had furries, which were kinda the same. They had niche media which they loved but nobody else cared much about, stupid catchphrases/words they'd made up that grated on nerves and fulfilled no purpose, a sub-community dedicated to weird porn and an annoyingly loud presence on the internet compared to their number. A few years on and now they're just part of the background noise of the internet at large. Every now and then you stumble over something you don't want to or don't care about, but only as often as you'd reasonably expect compared to all the other stuff that's out there. I'm hoping ponies do the same and just blend into the background as well so I can go back to ignoring them like I do furries, weirder furries, people who like WoW too much and duckface photos.

Actually, Fallout:Equestria did preseve most of the "War is Hell" tone, in fact, I would say that it even expanded it. I'm not trying to belittle Fallout with that, it's great at what it is, being an atmospheric game, but the fanfiction's literary medium was inevitably more appropriate for long discussions about ambigous morality, idealism, cynicism, struggles for survival, and the fall of civilization, the nature of tyrannies, not to mention the protagonist's characterization, struggling to find good in herself wheh there is almost nothing good remaining in the world.

Besides, the 50's retro theme itself was used as an intentionally dissonant element in the original Fallout, it's whole point was being a painfully naive andsimplicistic past, so the pony theme kinda replaces that. It has the same effect, with the flasbacks to the pre-war era ponies, with the posters, in-jokes, locations, bringing up the same feeling that "God, how could something so innocent and idealistic go so horribly wrong?"

I just find it rather annoying you'd judge something without reading it, if you have I apologize but I'm very into MLP and I'm only about half-way into it after several months of on and off reading. It actually, as hard as it is to believe, works well. It keeps all the rape, murder, torture, horrible dark humor.
Without trying to sound sappy, it sort of emphasizes no matter how highly you think of humans (in this case, ponies), even if they act loving and kind and loyal, when shit goes down people act like scum. I think the fact they're something so innocent (cartoon ponies) actually makes that work pretty good.
I love Fallout, I love MLP, I love Fallout: Equestria. I keep all three in a different part of my mind, they aren't in each other's canon, I don't get pissy because something I like/don't like got mixed with something else I like/don't like etc. etc.
Again though, if you have read it then your opinion is actually valid and I apologize. If not, you sound dumb.

For me, the point of realization that the degradation of the MLP had become quite extensive was while playing on a tf2 surf server. A 10 year-old child (he confirmed with us that this was his age) and promptly began asking if anyone was a brony and then stating "don't hate on me being a brony because I'm cooler then you and you are just angry trolls" (exact quote). He repeated this about 6 times, along with the usual item begging that can be expected from the age group.
It was at this moment that I realized what aggravated me so much when it came to bronies. their incessant need to defend themselves against NOONE.

Off topic: Speaking of which, I've been meaning to read Cupcakes. I've known about it for quite a while and have seen countless parodies of and allusions to it, but I've never actually sat down and read the blasted thing.

Ehh, most people over react to it. The content itself would be disturbing if it was done well, but it isn't, so it's more like a comedy where the fun comes from contrasting the attempted mood with the blatant gramatical errors out of character moments. Give it a shot, nothing to lose.

Now Sweet Apple Massacre, that one's a little worse. Certainly not actually frightening or disturbing, but showing a bit more degree of effort. Still not much to lose, but you might feel mildly squeamish.

Then there's Rainbow Factory. That one hits you, mainly because you can see there was actual editing and proofreading, and the author isn't constantly going 'Look! Ponyguts! So dark and scary!' Still not as bad as half the creepypastas I've seen, but it's got some substance.

And FYI, I mainly read these fanfics so I can get all the references that are made to them. But I have to search them out. I don't get how people complain about having them shoved in their faces. It's not like it's typed out in full on the front page of the Escapist.

What I'm annoyed with are the haters. People who are incredibly likely to be into video games, cartoons, anime, comic books etc etc. People who get hated on for those things. Yes i recognize that, but I was thinking more about the stories that are relatively short. Citing Cupcakes, Rainbow Factory, and My Little Dashie.
I am sorry my comments implied the equivocation of fanfiction and short story. My original option was to write: "it can't be that hard to write terrible stories" but having little experience in that realm, I thought it best to avoid condescending comments.

I started getting into the show AND the fandom a good while, and so far, I'm still loving it!

I sort looked past some of the stupider parts of the fandom, such as the whole Trollestia fad and how alot of people keep calling Scootaloo a chicken, and found myself having alot of fun with this fandom.
