True, it does hurt that a game gets punished for not being like the other thousands of fantasy MMO's that copy WOWTayh said:RTW tried something new, something unique, something that hadn't been done at that scale before... And the game industry punished them for not making another generic wow-clone.
Not to mention all the reviewers who thought that APB was supposed to be an MMO or another GTA, and thus based their score on such expectations.
It's a shame that it had to go under so quickly. And it's a shame that so many people were reluctant to try it out after reading a review based on the BETA stage of APB. Heck, alot of the issues they were complaining about in the reviews were fixed in the very first major patch.
Oh well.
Rest in peace, RTW and APB.
There's no other game out there that will be able to replace you.
Thanks for the answer. Here's hoping someone does something with the character creator code instead of it just collecting dust somewhere.Ultratwinkie said:no, you need to connect to the server AKA "world" THEN you get to make your character.
They apparently put a lot of the development team on the job of making new content, and very little on fixing old content. The game had crippling design flaws that could have been fixed in a week. Altering the matchmaking program so that only players of a similar level fight each other would have taken almost no time at all. Instead I spent 75% of my time fighting players who were both higher level than me, and had equal/greater numbers than me. The coolest looking guns, such as the .44 magnum revolver, were often the least useful.hazabaza1 said:Oh, geez, I nearly bought that!
£30 down the pot it would've been.
We, shame to see a game go down, I guess, even if I never played it.
That's probably not too far from the truth, oh well the game is officially closed nowCommander Breetai said:APB Closes; Three People Devastated.
