Ok so I bought my PS3 slim about a month ago and the first few days were amazing. Then i noticed a distinct clicking noise every now and then when using it for longer periods of time. Even when it was off it would click sometimes. Then going to the New Year I go to use my PS3 and it doesn't work at all. Here is a list of my problems:

1. The controller does not connect. Even with the cord nothing.
2. The screen is black (the cords are plugged in correctly.)
3. I can not turn OFF the system I can only turn it on. (even resetting it doesn't turn off)Must be unplugged to shut off))
4. The PS remote doesn't work for it either. (turn on or off)
5. The only thing that works is the power button and the eject button.

Anything like this happen to you? If so what did you do and how long did it take to fix.
Describe your experience.

I am currently going to call Sony to get it fixed. I really loved the system but it died. Worked fine 8 hours earlier in the day too.

My xbox also has stopped working.

1. No sound
2. Disc tray doesn't open must use the slap trick
3. Slap trick no longer works
4. The xbox is laggy on the main screen and games lag too
5. On the verge of RRoD

I will call Microsoft to see about fixing the piece of junk but still.

EDIT: Microsoft will not fix the piece of crap console. I will not be ALL sony from now on because I am tired of microsoft screwing me and the other customers. They say the warranty is over. How would I get them to fix it for free? Hows the lawsuit going toot thats about the RRoD because I'd like to join it.

Again I ask: Anything like this happen to you? If so what did you do and how long did it take to fix. Describe your experience.

Your house is an electronic vortex of doom. I knew a girl once that had one around her. Everything would just fritz every time she walked into the room.

It can't be helped.

Wow, the consoles hate you.

PC gamer?
I am not. Well it depends on the game. Really only Starcraft.
I was just joking, just because it seems odd that both consoles bricked on you.

So if you don't play any PC games I can imagine what a horrid situation you are in right now.

A word of advice, when you call Microsoft, don't tell them the 'slap trick' no longer works, because I'm pretty sure that hitting your console to force the disc tray to open invalidates the warranty.

I can't even describe how bad it is. And I homeschool so that multiplies how bad it is by 2

No, I have luck.
Quite this, with the added dash of taking care of my consoles. Also, I save receipts, and at the first sign of shit going wonky I trade that shit in for a new one.

Got my 250GB Slim at launch and it's still perfect, that click could have been the fan, which means it may have overheated. Maybe a loose wire blocking the fan?

Only Sony will be able to help now as the insides are probably fried.

Bad luck, buddy :/
I haven't had anything similar. Mine was pre-owned, cost me nearly half the price and it hasn't failed me yet.

It would click as early as turning it on to an hour into my gaming.

well i know Microsoft should be co-operative, were with me, really helpful the guy i got...

heard sony aren't that nice when you call them, they will sound nice but you'll get it back in like 3 moth (happened to my mate once) but i dont wanna sound like a fanboy, this is what ive heard, and seen but yanoo, cud be a one off.

so yeh mate good look (Y)

ooooo and P.S. my disk tray didn't open for a while either, something may have got jammed in their, but i wouldn't advise opening your console to look cause i could be wrong.

also are your HD cables plugged in (the red green and blue cable you get with the console), or are you using a HDMI cable or scart? if the first one, change to scart, might be your TV (for the sound problem)

EDIT: um oops maybe Microsoft wont be helpful XD urmm... try ringing again, maybe ya got a pathetic person with no life... if that dosnt work, i suggest connecting Microsoft online, the computers will help better...hopefully

Could be the wire moving with heat.

Or just a faulty fan.

If nothings coming up on screen then it's most probably an overheating problem with your GPU, so a fan must be involved somewhere...

ew 0_O Unlucky man.

My PS3 went into freak-out mode once but I turned it off and on again a few times and it fixed itself.

Are you some kind of alien with which primitive human technology cannot interact without blowing up?

my xbox died horribly about 2 months ago. screen was black, sound did work.
I called microsoft, some woman kept talking to me like i was fucking 5 years old and then she told me the warranty doesn't last 3 years because I didn't have the RRoD. How can they possibly say that the thing should work fine for 2 years, UNLESS you get a RRoD. Then it should work fine for 3 years. >.<
So I sold all my xbox games and bought a PS3. fuck you microsoft

Mass produced equipment + the well known mentality of warehouse workers = shit happens mate.

And I'm really not joking about the way merchandise gets handled during the delivery stage. Have you ever seen how a Wal-Mart truck gets packed? I'll always remember that back when I worked, more often than not we'd end up with a wall of freight collapsing inside of the truck while we were unloading it, I'm surprised there weren't any injuries.

I smell a trap here...

This seems suspiciously like flame bait..
Your title says something about the PS3, but then your post laments the failing of your Sony system and THEN your xbox breaking down, and THEN how you will now be "ONLY Sony" because Microsoft is evil and won't fix your Xbox, even though your Sony is broken too.. and forgetting the fact that it sounds like your Xbox is older than your PS3 slim, considering those came out a FEW months ago, and already it's "broken"?

Sounds suspicious to me. I think I'll avoid getting into the whole "Xbox vs. PS3" debate.
