I smell a trap here...

This seems suspiciously like flame bait..
Your title says something about the PS3, but then your post laments the failing of your Sony system and THEN your xbox breaking down, and THEN how you will now be "ONLY Sony" because Microsoft is evil and won't fix your Xbox, even though your Sony is broken too.. and forgetting the fact that it sounds like your Xbox is older than your PS3 slim, considering those came out a FEW months ago, and already it's "broken"?

Sounds suspicious to me. I think I'll avoid getting into the whole "Xbox vs. PS3" debate.
Shut up and look at my avatar.

If you don't feed them, they won't notice and leave, mkay?

(No offense intended, just joking around)

You can come over to my place and play some NES if ya like. Takes about 5 minutes of blowing the cartridges (Tehee!) but it still works after about the 30th attempt, and the ol' Sega Genesis is in perfect running shape.

Silly technobable and small shiny record disc things. Consoles shoulda stuck with cartridges!

A word of advice, when you call Microsoft, don't tell them the 'slap trick' no longer works, because I'm pretty sure that hitting your console to force the disc tray to open invalidates the warranty.
^psh, I use that slap trick for everything. Opens up the disk tray AND it shuts up little whiny prats

:p

You've obviously pissed of the Sony gods somehow.

Good luck trying to gain their approval back

Bad luck, TC, my PS3 got the flashing red light problem today. It kept freezing, now it won't turn on at all. Does anyone know why this is? I've suspected hard drive failure, don't think it's that and it's either a fan or power supply issue.
HELP!

No matter how much i ask or demand, my Ps3 still won't make me a sandwich. Its obviously broken.

My 360 on the other hand makes a fantastic fried breakfast, i only have to play it for 10 minutes and put the bacon and eggs on top and they are cooked to perfection!

This may possibly be the best bit of advice you have been given! It doesn't do them any good and you aren't meant to 'slap', electrical equipment. If you go on youtube there are videos that show you how to fix 'sticky', disc tray without resorting to violence.

I didn't catch that 'till now...if he isn't doing it for that reason he is just an idiot.

again you missed the WHOLE point of the thread. its about people whove had these problems and what they did to fix it. to share their stories.... NO vs thread or flamebaiting here at all.

I know this much.. I'm actually glad this thread popped up.
Because quite frankly, I wasn't aware so many PS3's are starting to experience issues, especially older models like my faithful 60 gig.
My biggest problem is this... Xbox made an incredible effort to fix faulty units. Sony seems to be under the impression that their system is beyond manufacturing error and the term "Customer service" is still something they haven't quite translated well.

But I've said it before and I'll say it again. If my 60 gig ps3 breaks, and they do not fix it, I will not get a cheap ass Slim.. (yes, thats right, I called it cheap... little to no BC, and look at all my beautiful ports on the front, as well as my ability to swap the ol' Harddrives). I will wait until the PS4 or whatever comes out, because I want the product I paid damn near a FORTUNE for back in the day. Xbox wouldnt take a Halo special edition system to repair and send you back an arcade model. That is how I feel about my Ps3.

So in essence.. don't funk with me Sony. You're already on thin ice.
