Dude, those are awesome! Are they from anything in particular or are they just random cool art?

They're just really cool art, I get most of my backgrounds from http://www.desktopography.net. I'm not sure why people create it, or how your backgrounds get put into the exhibits, but I'm really glad it exists. That website is the main reason why I had to start making my backgrounds cycle, lol.

Its not... in my tastes lets leave it at that but there is nothing wrong with it. Its not illegal or immoral so if someone has a problem with it that is something they have to deal with, anyone moaning at me would get told as much. Personally my criteria for a phone and tablet wallpaper are the same as for a computer, something uncluttered which doesn't clash with anything else on screen and is barely there. The same one is on my phone and tablets at the moment.

I've tried to stay clear of anything sexualised just so I don't have to put up with having to justify it to anyone, but 'violent' images get a free pass though..

I've been using American Mcgee's Alice for a while on my phone, and SC 2 on the iPad.

Locked screen image, fits perfectly in the back space been the open slide and the time/date.

Unlocked background.

Thinking about using this one, will probably try and put it on the iPad to.

Current iPad wallpaper

PC has a drawn dual screen WP of Hel from SMITE, which is pretty awesome.

I wouldn't have a background like that myself, I would be embarrassed.

My phone background is currently

However, my laptop background is much better

I've had a picture of a woman being all sexy-like as the background of my phone for months now, none of the ones I've used are nudes, but I would say that yours is a little bit more, gratuitous perhaps? I think the fact that your friend questioned why you would have it is enough of an indicator as to whether they think it's appropriate. Some of my friends have seen my background and they haven't been shocked or surprised. Still, it is your phone and you can do what you like with it.

I think in terms of getting it out in public it shouldn't matter what you have, it's your private property, people shouldn't be looking at your phone screen anyway, and as long as you're not literally showing it to them, if they're offended by what they see that is their problem.

I would honestly argue that first impressions matter; the world's a stage and you constantly have to play different parts. And do you want to play a part associated with a picture like...that? I wouldn't at least.

Now, of course you're still absolutely free to do with your phone whatever the hell you want as long as it's within the confines of the law, but I wouldn't get prissy about certain reactions on it either.

As for me, it's the most awesome picture I ever made of my cat:

My laptop has a nice little picture of Titan:

And of course, I absolutely don't mind showing any of those. The cat one is actually sort of an icebreaker sometimes.

I had, up until just now, the default background for my phone never bothered to change it. Don't know why.

I just set it to this though.

Why? Because Majora's mask is awesome, that's why!

Also it isn't controversial and I don't have to waste time dealing with the "Why would you make that your background" questions.

Please Nintendo! Make a 3DS remake!

I like my phone wallpapers to be mostly simplistic colourpatterns, so they do not make it more difficult to read the time at one glance, and also mostly dark, because I heard that these OLED Displays save energy when they don't have to display anything, so here, for example, my current setup:

Lockscreen:

Homescreen:

Edit: they look a lot darker on the actual display, I am suprised.

I like my phone background...
Those who know what it is think it's cool...
Others who don't know just shrug and continue as normal...

My laptop background is a nissan GTR

Although this may be considered appropriate however if you are into cars then this is basically just pornography

My phone background is the default galaxy S4 hot air balloon. Its really colourful and welcoming

I just use pictures of my cats. I think if I used some, *ahem* eye candy, I'd have more than just awkward questions to deal with.

I mostly use abstract art for my phone backgrounds, currently i'm using a picture of a big ass wave that i set up through some app that creates a panoramic 3D effect, been stuck with it for months now. As for my PC, well theres a bunch of different stuff and it changes every 5 minutes, none of it would be embarassing to show to strangers.

I would never use what OP is using, would be too embarassed to take out my phone in front of my boss or just people in general, not to mention that it doesn't even look good to me.

Im one of thoose people who usually think, "I dont care since its MY phone/PC anyways and I put whatever I want on there". But I wouldnt really say it's a good idea to have soft core pornography as a wallpaper for social reasons. It doesnt make a good first impression on people.

This is the stuff I use on my PC and on my School Laptop. I prefer things that are easy to the eye.

I keep a picture of two women kissing as my background

I like the picture and it helps convey my sexuality to any interested women who might spy it while I'm out...

When asking yourself "should I put this image on my phone", try to imagine the first reaction you'd have to your mother asking to borrow your phone. Not a good one? Don't use the image.
What if your mom likes busty anime girls?

My logic for choosing backgrounds -- especially for something that you take out in public like a phone (or laptop) -- is that if I don't want to have to explain what it is, I won't set it as a background. Your image would be out (although I wouldn't pick something like that anyway). I keep it simple and recognizable.
Mine's just purple and black swirls. I've never needed to say more than "I like purple." It's a good system.

Though I don't care what others use.

Being a hetrosexual female Witchblade fan, I've sometimes had backgrounds where I've been like "hold on, are people going to think I'm a hardcore lesbian?"
Would it be better if they thought you were a softcore lesbian?

I personally would never put that as my background, but you may do as you wish. My current lock screen for my phone is an image of Batman flipping off the Bat signal while he's trying to watch a soccer match. ( or football for non US residents)

I looked at the OP's post, and then the wallpaper, and I laughed for a good five minutes.

I can see your friend had that reaction. For me, Rogue Wolf had it right. There may be the event that someone will need your phone. They'll see your wallpaper. I don't want people to think of me as the "guy with the almost nude anime girl on it." Though, with that being said, I wouldn't mind some eye candy!

Dropbox may not like it though, it's not showing for me. Oh well.
