As of right now, could you trust .... to use your PC?

Sure. There is nothing here I'd mind them seeing. My only problem would be that I'd be unable to use my computer while they were on it, but that can be fixed.

Absolutely nobody touches my computer.

No, I don't have stashes of porn hidden in my folders, nor do I have porn in my browsing history (any smart person just wipes that afterward).

I simply have a really, really, really, REALLY big thing against anybody interacting with what I believe to be my personal possessions.

1) not without supervision (for the teck ileterate ones)
2) don't have one, but probably
3) my oldest brother yes, my older brother no
4) the way the two of them have treated the other computers in my house (one is inoperable, the other is now only good for solitair) makes me feel somewhat reluctunt.

in short i don't even let people physically touch my laptop unless they are well aware that the hinges are fragile and the insides are exposed if taken off the cooling box, let alone operate it.

sometimes i feel like im overprotective, but then i remember how much time i spend fixing their computers, and how much money was spent replacing this things broken screen/hinges.

I have a server with hidden shares, encrypted partitions and multiple, granular levels of access. I have no problem letting anyone use my PC, it's safe.

I keep nothing on here that I wouldn't want anyone to see. Hint: Firefox has a Private Browsing feature that remembers nothing.

"My" computer is the family desktop, but I consider it mine because I built it and I am the primary user.

1) Absolutely. He helped me build it. He knows EVERYTHING about it.
2) Yep. No worries.
3) My brother uses it daily... almost more than I do. He has recently started modding Minecraft and has been successful. So yes.
4) My parents know more than enough to use my computer. They typically use it daily.

Everything that needs hidden, is in One Note, password protected. But that's mostly things I write that I don't want people to see just yet. Also angry rants to people who make me mad.

Anyone can go on my computer, but it's a left handed mouse (I'm right handed, I know makes sense.). So no one ever really does...

Of course. That's what "guest" is for.

:D

I have my separate password locked user, and then there's the one for everyone else.

Not unless they're technology illiterate. I don't save anything I wouldn't want anyone seeing, or specifically password-protect it, and I set my browser to not save any history. Sure, gets annoying when I have to tell my bank website what state I'm in again, but it's whatever.

I would say yes to the first two, no to the second. My PC is expensive, and im quite attached to it, while my parents and to a lesser extend my sister have always shown an utter disregard for my posessions. Whereas my sister is something of a hippy, and just does not form attachments to material things the way I do so I cant really blame her and probably would lend it in an emergency, my Mom has always held out that since she pushed me out of her everything I own is somehow hers by default. She can't borrow my stuff since she borrowed my car backed it into a tree and retourned it with an empty tank of gas.
Granted I live alone, and only the first two ever come up anymore so I guess anyone who stops by could probably use it, granted I did once have a girlfriend install and play sentimental shooting... so this whole thing may be misguided.

Actually, I don't have a PC. I use my Dad's for everything.

AND: All (or most) of my family uses Internet Explorer, and I use Firefox.

Since they don't share the same history, I don't have to worry about people
seeing the porn that I watched a couple of hours ago
having to delete my history after watching porn
uh...doing stuff...

Sure, they can use my PC if they want to.

I have no need to store porn on my PC, as it is readily available online in youtube format, and the history is easily deletable.

Other than that there is nothing I feel the need to hide.

I assume you have this USB drive in a secure safe. Located behind a 30 inch vault door. In a nuclear bunker. Protected by a personal paramilitary force around the clock.

My sister ALREADY uses my computer without my permission, but luckily, she knows not to poke around anywhere she isn't actively working.

I'd feel awkward letting anyone else use my computer unsupervised.

(I really need to learn how to password-protect files, if that's even possible)

1) Your best friend(s)
2) Your GF/BF (Any other form of relationship status)
3) Your sibling(s)
4) Your parents

Not in the sense that they might damage or corrupt it, but is there anything you don't mind / want them seeing? Lets just say they used it one day without your permission, would you get hot ans sweaty and chuck them off or relax and say go ahead?
1. Yep. My friends keep my secrets and don't mess with my shit.

2. Well, there's no porn on my comp (surprised?), so my girlfriend would be fine too. Even if I did, she'd probably understand. She's amazingly cool about anything and understands that guys have those needs.

3. My brother already has his own (restricted) account, and even then, he only uses it for web browsing and playing on his own Minecraft account, so he's okay too.

4. Probably not, simply because they're computer illiterate. I can't trust them being on my computer for any length of time.
