This sort of behaviour from gamers isn't a particularly new development ? the gamer culture is one that is very entitled, misogynistic, and homophobic (along with a whole boatload of other issues that are never dealt with). The major problem is that the entitlement makes for very little room for change since many are unwilling to change and are, in fact, rather afraid of it. The fact that Hepler is a woman only makes the lashing out at her worse.
