For the US, is it really true that you can acquire a gun license at the age of 14, like I've heard or was that a ridiculous rumour?

If it is true I can kinda understand why school shootings happen now...


I mean, 18 to have sex (As far as I'm aware) 21 to drink (Again, as far as i'm aware) but 14 to be a lisenced Gun-owner...
Think about how much sexual tention is let out by shooting shit...

To US citizens...do that many of you really have a gun in your house? Is it pretty much everybody like we are led to believe? I'm aware that it may well be more common in some of the southern states, but really...how many of you don't have a gun somewhere in the house?

As a general rule (mostly for people in their 20's):
Rural people will have guns
Suburban people will sometimes have guns, sometimes just a house alarm
City people have knives.

... About as true as me being King of England.
It definitely isn't so within the city, though rural areas might operate differently.

You must mean the Kölner Dom (in English that translates to something like the Dome of Cologne, which sounds rather silly xD ) - truly a magnificent edifice to behold!
By the way, if you feel the urge to visit Cologne at a time when people are going batshit bonkers, book a flight around February, that's carnival time over here... and nobody parties harder during carnival than Cologne, they're actually famous for that over here. ^^

hahahaha sadly i will still be in school...but i'm guessing that is like Mardi Gras in New Orleans and luckily I'm about an hour away from NOLA! =)

The only real difference I see is that during carnival in Germany many people dress up, especially the little kids. The streets and parties are full of cowboys, bees, heroes, movie characters etc... weird, but fun. I went as a Juggalo last time since virtually nobody knows them in our country - I was the weirdest clown at the party! xD

Not all of us have guns. If we do, it's probably a hunting rifle.

We're also not aloud to shoot anybody with them unless they're a threat to our or someone else's immediate safety. I get the impression that people think you can shoot someone if they break into your house and try to walk out with your tv.

I was under the impression that if someone breaks into your house, usually, he won't go upstairs because he knows you have a gun, and you won't go downstairs because you know he's got one, so nobody gets shot but he gets some stuff.

That was what an old american friend of mine told me. He was from Cleveland, Ohio so I don't know what that says about different places or even that town because his dad was from alabama so that might just be the case there.

I suppose people might understand what you're trying to say if you're very lucky since phonetically it's somewhat correct. The correct wording would be "Der linke Blinker an meinem Krankenwagen ist kaputt."

Not myself in particular, but yes. It's really, really sad actually. I had a conversation with a classmate that basically ended with her stating, "I don't need to know that geography. It's not like I'm ever going be there or deal with those people." and I just kinda stared at her.

At you Swedes and Danes: Is your penal system really as lenient as it's reported to be? I read the book Catch Me if You Can about a famous con artist, and it seems that his time in your "jail" was more akin to being a nice hotel, just not able to leave that.
