is everything really done in both french and english...?

also to americans in high school do you really have such defined cliches as we see on TV and in films....?

It depends on the high school. At my school we really don't have the cliches and the problems that come with them. We are all kinda just laid back (like the rest of Oregon really), but I'm there are some high school in my country that are like that (probably in California or Florida).

I will agree with my fellow oregonian.

Okay, now that's freaky. That means there's at least three Oregonians on this thread as well.

To US citizens...do that many of you really have a gun in your house? Is it pretty much everybody like we are led to believe? I'm aware that it may well be more common in some of the southern states, but really...how many of you don't have a gun somewhere in the house?

I live in South Carolina and my family does not have a gun in our home. A good bit of us do, though.

Australians, were you taught a list of creatures in primary school that can kill you? Also, is Australia really the first-world (not Israel) land of everything trying to kill you that TV Tropes makes it out to be?

Swedes, what is it like living in your socialist system of government? Is it good? Horribly oppressive like the republicans are making it out to be? Also to you and Canadians, what's your experience with the government healthcare? Is it a bureaucratic nightmare like the anti-government healthcare people here are saying it is?

Also, to those in the UK, just how common are chavs? I've heard of them frequently here as being a problem, so I'm curious. And if anyone knows, how did a BNP guy get elected?

You must mean the Kölner Dom (in English that translates to something like the Dome of Cologne, which sounds rather silly xD ) - truly a magnificent edifice to behold!
By the way, if you feel the urge to visit Cologne at a time when people are going batshit bonkers, book a flight around February, that's carnival time over here... and nobody parties harder during carnival than Cologne, they're actually famous for that over here. ^^

hahahaha sadly i will still be in school...but i'm guessing that is like Mardi Gras in New Orleans and luckily I'm about an hour away from NOLA! =)

Yes, I suppose it's like Mardi Gras, right down to the people puking their guts out where they stand. xD
The only real difference I see is that during carnival in Germany many people dress up, especially the little kids. The streets and parties are full of cowboys, bees, heroes, movie characters etc... weird, but fun. I went as a Juggalo last time since virtually nobody knows them in our country - I was the weirdest clown at the party! xD

What i really meant was, are local calls really not free in the UK?

It depends on the first 2 numbers of the phone number. 01 is the cheapest, 09 is the most expensive. 08 is average for a TV phone-in and 01 is usually a residential number or local business.

Since I'm a Brit an donly just found this out I'd like to ask anyone from America:

Yes and no. We did use it along time ago but not anymore.

I heard they're still legal tender, just a lot of people don't know it. Either way, my friends in America and I gave her a mission to get me one.

I'm not sure if this has been answered yet or not since I don't intend to read the whole thread. It's technically legal tender but it's very rare to see a $2.00 bill so you won't see anyone actually spending any. They're actually worth more than $2 now though for those trying to collect them.

fking awesome!!! i can break my arm right now for fun and it won't cost me a thing ... also pretty handy since i've been doing extreme sports my entire life and've never had to pay for insurance

Dog sleds are more of a recreational thing now-a-days. In some remote places they are still the most practical means of transportation. Dog sled tours are now popular, as well as the Iditarod, which is a dog sled race from Anchorage to Nome. If your hoping to get a ride I suggest using a dog sled tour.

It's a good thing to have as a last resort. In England we have insurance as well, and it is okay. If you don't have health insurance and need serious treatment then health care is pretty useful to have, otherwise it isn't that helpful though, as minor treatment will usually put low on priority, so it can take ages through health care.

My turn How hot is it usually in Florida? Is it really how everyone else pictures it (boiling all the time)?

Oh, and I'm British, currently living in Wiltshire, South-West England. Ask me!

At you Swedes and Danes: Is your penal system really as lenient as it's reported to be? I read the book Catch Me if You Can about a famous con artist, and it seems that his time in your "jail" was more akin to being a nice hotel, just not able to leave that.

Well, jailing is punishment. But it isn't torture. You can leave your cell when you like to in the daytime and it is possible to take a gymnasium education (look up danish education system on wikipedia) while you're locked away. We focus on rehabilitation because we have already realised that punishment doesn't work.

And the harshest punishment in denmark is "life time" which is 16 years.

Also, don't beleive everything you see in movies.

Yes, it really is. Though Florida is a pretty large state... I live somewhere in the middle, and it's about 95F now. It'll drop to 80-85F at night, but during the summer day expect it to be over 90F and easily over 100F.

Winter it's about 60, sometimes occasionally if we're lucky it gets below 40F.

And it's muggy. Always.

Well, I think being obsessed with something to the point of fanaticism is... not good, to say the least. I do enjoy some of their music, but not all of it... I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to music - I mainly listen to Rock and Metal, but I also enjoy all kinds of soundtracks, Blues, Jazz, classical music etc. A new flavor every now and then is important, otherwise life gets stale. ^^
