Periods that would be better than ww2: Industrial revolution, war of independence, the american civil war, the gulf war, British controlled India, 18th century Caribbean piracy, ww1.

Female Assassin: Yes
World War II: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

That would take away half the charm of Assassin's Creed. There are millions of settings to explore all over the world all over the time. It doesn't matter from which angle you do WWII, it's still done to death.

The French revolution would be awesome if you ask me ^^
the french revolution as a setting would simply ruin the game: everyone was already fucking dieing, so there would be no challenge to it.

i say Napoleonic wars if you have to set it in europe, at least having a garden gnome as a major character would be Lulzy

otherwise Civil War, women mattered in that war also, and what difference really is a spy from Allina, the female assassin?

Incidentally an assassins Creed set in the soviet afghan war would be really interesting IMHO. It's never been done, it's fresh, and it could make some sense. Or a game set in Feudal Japan (You can't lose with Ninjas unless you've pimped your culture out to suit America's top desires, gore and tits. I'm looking at you Team Ninja...) But if it is a ninja game, I hope to god they make it historically realistic. Ninja Gaiden was sickeningly awful. Just sayin.

How bout playing as the german spies sent to kill Eisenhower or Patton? How bout sucessfully killing FDR or Stalin? But the cool thing about assassin's creed is that you have concealed daggers In WW2 those would be useless. Thus my attratction to the game would cease. Also what is up with the sci-fi part. Totally could have been left out.

Female sounds fun.
But the setting..
It sounds like they're conforming.
What a waste.
I adored number 1, and surely 2. Hopefully, they don't die out the funsies by going all generic WWII on us.

honestly, i don't think it would be all that bad in ww2. think about the way they let you travel the environments. now think about all the ww2 games you have played. the difference is that they let you choose how to explore the environments. rooftops, gutters, markets, and the whole city/battle zone will be your playground. unlike most ww2 games where the maps are kinda strait forward, where you have to follow a path, you get to decide on how to get to your target/victim. the only thing that worries me are the guns. how are they going to fit the gun mechanic into this game, and not let it break the flow of the game.

it would also be cool if you ended up killing Hitler in the end.

OMG A FEMALE ASSASSIN GASP!!!!!!
whatever. as long as the character I'm playing is a bad ass I really, REALLY don't care about their gender. don't see why they're making such a big deal out of it.
WWII though? really? I am about 90% sure I would not play that game. the 10% would be if they found a way for it to be unique while keeping it fun. honestly would anyone else wanna see a wild west setting? I would love that

I think it would be awesome if they made a game set in the Maratha Empire of the late 1690's or early 18th century in the war between the Hindu Maratha and the Islamic Mughal with the Indian subcontinent Piece of Edan at stake. From the map in AC1 it's looks as though the Piece is very close to Delhi. Delhi, in my opinion, is a Redonkuliously good place to set an Assassin's Creed game.

I approve of having a female assassin... but I don't approve of setting the game in WW2 =/. There are so many other interesting eras that could be explored.

Yeah I woudlnt mind a female main character for the third game but really WW2? comon thats the best they can think of? How about the French Revolution... that would be good with the guillotine and all... plus it wouldnt be ruined by guns, cause the fact that guns back then where extremly slow. =D

That seems cool. There are just two small issues. First, what side are you on? Second, Isn't that a Smaller time jump? I thought that AC2 was supposed to take place in the future. You know. the one that the first assassin's creed game was foreshadowing.

Except for the WWII aspect of this, I'm heavily intrigued.

WWII has been done to death, especially in Gaming, to the point where If I see a game based in that era, I'll consciously TRY to avoid it in the mindset: "What else could they possibly cram into WWII?!"

Also my father is a huge WWII fan... So much so that I'm convinced if provided with the option to run away with Hitler and get married in secret, he'd actually take the opportunity...

So I'm very fed up with the War from all view points.

But the idea of a female assassin in Assassin's Creed III truly get's my interest back up.
Mostly because I enjoy playing as Female characters, but of course because it's not as illogical a step as some would consider it.

It's the same step I'd like to see the LoZ franchise take (It never will) where an anchestor/descendant is of course female, just because the guy strapped to the machine is a man doesn't mean all throughout history his ancestors were.

So yeah, if they drop the WWII idea They'll have definately sold me on the idea.

Go backwards, why not Ancient Rome?

Ancient Rome was a hugely diverse city with slaves soldiers and merchants from all over the Empire, a city which combines awesome architecture- the coliseum and triumphal arches for example, with a huge labyrinth of slum housing. There is also plenty of written material from that era which would be useful for finding historical characters to bump off.

I would also support setting a game in colonial India, the French Revolution, the English or American Civil War and perhaps Tudor England.

Here's the problem with that, the game would have to drastically change or risk ecoming unrealistic. The gun factor in the game would be slightly rediculous, they would either have to have guns which would involve a crazy change in game mechanic, or they would not have guns, which would be hard to explain why nazis dont have guns. We'll see what happens.

Rome would be hard to explain the gear the assassin would have to wear, and it would have to take out the new things the game has, like smoke bombs and such. It has a lot it could do with story but ehh. Feudal Japan would rock though.

Problem with a modern theme is that it may just turn into another WW2 shooter, and be too easy ifall people will do, and they will, is snipe through all the missions

English civil or French revolution would be cool themes, plenty of history and background to work on

either that, or you could do a twist (atlantic cousins please dont take offence, merely a suggestion) set it around the US civil war, culminating with Desmond finding out that it was actually one of his ancestors that killed Lincoln in Fords theatre and Wilks got the blame

I dont know, running through infamous assassinations here

Thats very exciting, on the other hand, if they want to continue the series, where would they place the next one?

Assassins Creed IV: Placed in modern war?

I don't know but this is really cool.

I think the American or French revolutions would be an awesome setting. I agree with the distaste for WW2 games and I too would be sad if they fell back on something so run of the mill.
