Assassin's Creed III Could be set in World War II

Speaking to Xbox World 360 about the upcoming Assassin's Creed II, Puel was asked about the possibility of having a female Assassin as the protagonist of a future AssCreed title. "We've had discussions on that very topic," responded Puel, "It could be really interesting but we'd need to find the right time period and place for that."

Asscreed? A joke?

OT: I'd buy it. WW2? If you get to have a buller proof clothes yes!

I like how everyone's ignoring that they said it would take place in England.

She wouldn't be storming Normandy, kids. If the Assassin was in England, she'd most likely be performing political killings while... dodging bombs.

The strange thing is, the way these games are goin ie: making them as pretty as possible, setting it during World War II would take away that aspect // Hell they could just take the environments from the latest Medal of Honor game and just use them, but Im not sure how the plot would work? But the idea of a female main character would be pretty cool as long as they play with the feminine aspects when it comes to killin (yes Im talkin about using sex to kill) and as long as they Don't go along the lines of WoW's female versions of male armor when it comes to her clothing

Also can you stop calling it AssCreed, its kind of disturbing

That's... incredibly sexist. Feminine aspects = sex?

With Altair's style of killing, there's no need to use sex. There's no need to even reveal yourself. The only time he ever talked to his targets was when they were dying.

Just because it has boobs doesn't mean it needs to be a floozy.
Im not sayin that there has to be sex in it Im just sayin it could be a new aspect they could add, kill the second hidden blade and poison blade that have been added to Assassin's Creed II // And not saying the act of sex, she could lure a target away for the crowd and then kill them somewhere quite

And correct boobs do not = floozy, but they do = game sales

They could do it during Stalin's reign after WWII, like taking out men that are high in Stalin chain of command or corrupt officials and so on.

Originality? What's that? o_O

Besides, there are plenty more interesting wars to jump into and start stabbing people in. You know what I think? They could seriously make this an excuse to learn about history. Mum or dad come bursting into your room screaming about homework, and all you have to do is fire up some Assassins Creed: French Revolution/English Civil War/Spanish inquisition/etc. As long as it's fun, it could be one of the highest profile edutainment franchises of all time!

Then again, the very thought of learning while playing videogames is in itself an automatic off-switch to most gamers... At any rate, it would be refreshing to say the least to have the industry move away from Nazis and WWII for a while, at least until we start to forget why we all hate Hitler so much.

Setting a female protagonist during the English Industrial Revolution could be a very interesting angle. Given how fast and loose AC liked to play with conspiracy theories, you could easily have the protagonist going up against the "true" Jack the Ripper (a Templar / Freemason sanctioned set of executions) or even being Jack the Ripper at some point for reasons the game could cover. Maybe those murdered were all witnesses to something the Assassin's want kept secret.

While personally I am not sold on a World War 2 setting for Assassins Creed, I'd prefer say the Napoleonic Wars, but people please why do most of you assume you will be storming the beaches or assaulting troops on a battlefield. So they do a World War 2 game, fine, make the character a resistance operative or a member of OSS, SIS or Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" (SOE). Then they throw you behind the lines in occupied Europe and have you organize resistance or assassinate key people or whatever. But that way they can preserve the stealth aspect of the game and set it in World War 2 if they feel like they really have to.

I'd be fine with WW2 but I agree with the OP. It's been done. If they are convinced that is the time period to go with I would contend that perhaps operating in Russia or Nazi Germany before the outbreak of the war could be interesting. Fight the early Nazi street fighters, consort with commies, Brit spies etc. Sneak through rallies and marches, kill party leaders of all stripes. Similarly the Cold War would work well too.

Where would I nominate personally?

Ancient China? Medieval Japan? Tenchu did it, but let's not refuse a setting because an inferior game did it already. Those would work best with the combat we're used to. Who doesn't want to be a ninja? Sneak through a castle disguised as a Geisha, stealing documents and spying on samurai.

I think I would also suggest the American Civil War. That would be fresh and would allow the use of knives, swords, and all manner of firearms (although I'm not convinced firearms are actually a good thing for this series). It could work.

I'd like more medieval settings though. That has yet to be done enough or just right.

I would think the industrial revolution would be the obvious choice. The other games are all set during periods of great global history and change (crusades, renaissance) I think the industrial revolution goes pretty neatly with these. It also offers a lot of conflict and exploitation that the hero could fight by sneaking around and killing dudes.
Thi-

Well thought out and well put statement this idea is very good and should be recognized for its relevance to the topic...

This is what i think the setting should be.

While i agree with making the protagonist for the third game female, i would much rather see the movie set during world war 1 in Russia. The first part/opening could deal with the final battle before they retreated, and the rest of the game could be set in Russia during the unstable times just after the fall of the Tsar. Why? Well, it would create ample opportunities and needs for an assasin, due to the constant battles for power and whatnot.

But hey, this is just my opinion. Im open to other idea's or settings, but that was just my idea.

Female Assassin: Yes
World War II: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

That would take away half the charm of Assassin's Creed. There are millions of settings to explore all over the world all over the time. It doesn't matter from which angle you do WWII, it's still done to death.

The French revolution would be awesome if you ask me ^^
well... exactly ^^
please, please, ubisoft, don't give us another ww2 game... it's just like... we've had enough ww2 recently (the last couple of YEARS, that is >.< ) - most gamers have killed enough nazis by now to show that we all know the nazis are bad.

and yes, it's a strength of the franchise to let us explore new (new as in not really used in/for games, that is) timeperiods. period.

I think people are missing this quote

So maybe in this context you were a woman in England during WWII. Why not? Nothing prevents us from doing it."
Well seeing as how I can't recall a single WWII game that has taken place only in England I don't think it would be a standard "kill all nazis in sight" affair. If anything it's a pretty cool chance to see how the English were faring back on the their mainland during the war and it could prove pretty interesting if say your assassination targets end up being corrupt English leaders or something like that.
yes, or helping the english resistance against the nazis; not only by killing nazis, doing the same old thing, but maybe hunting down traitors in england or i dunno... guess you can make more of ww2 than kill-those-nazis
that would be a nice change
still, a different time-period would be far nicer ^^

Okay here's an idea, use the time period that was shown in Nightmare Creatures. Around the time of the Great London Fire of 1666. They could make a game that leads up to this event.
