It really bugs me when people see two sides arguing and automatically assume that "the truth" lies somewhere right between the two sides.

People coming into a long standing debate with no real understanding of the issue and believing that they can show off they're superior intellect by "seeing both sides" and "agreeing with both". Neutrality doesn't automatically make you right.

And the smugness with which this is usually done is unbearable to me.

But if given a chance to grandstand here's what bugs me most: 99% of people that accuse others of hypocrisy. To believe something is right and not personally follow through on it does not make your argument invalid. In our time hypocrisy has become the greatest sin, when really it's quite minor. To attack a person's ideals because they don't live up to them makes you look like a complete dumbass.

Yeah not living up to your ideals is not hypocritical. Pretending to believe something you do not is. There are many reasons why people would not follow an ideal other than them not believing in them.

That comes only second to the assumption that because I do something without hesitation, fear, or concern I must not be thinking about it.
I think about things all the time. Training in parkour and other physical activities as well as simple observation lets me know my own skills and limits very well. So when I climb a loose pile of rocks or sit on a high outcrop or run through a thick trail I have already judged where I have to step to avoid shifting the rocks, or made sure I have a firm handhold and a short and/or soft fall if I slip, or I have seen the safest path on the trail; but because I do this quickly everyone tells me I need to be more careful or think about what I'm doing, ignoring that I already have many times over.

Another assumption is when I say that I'm pro-abortion, others automatically say "oh you're a democrat." I'm neither, I listen to both sides equally and have ideals that fit on both parties. Why does anyone belong to just one party, can we not have some Democratic values and some Republican values?

My Size means i'm a brute and looking for a fight. (I'm just shy of 6ft and 20 or 30 lbs short of 300. I don't look for fights but I will defend myself if absolutely necessary.)

My silence means I have nothing important to say (Too shy to speak up when interrupted.)

I'm a guy, therefore I do not enjoy hugs (Seriously. I know it can be viewed as wimpy but for the love of god it's okay to hug the panda...Yes..."Like a panda" is the one way my body shape has been descriped that i've been okay with.)

My remaining silent means I found the joke about my physical appearance just as funny as the one making the joke. (Seriously, people. There are buttons that you shouldn't push!)

My intellect and my vocabulary mean I think I'm better than those who excel in other forms. (That and my general social awkwardness have warded of a few potential friendships.)

OT: Okay, this ones been bugging me for awhile, but I've been having problems wording it. Here goes: The idea that just because a group of people share a common liking to something, they're all suddenly apart of a community. Yes technically they are a community, but do I want you to represent me? Do I want to associated with you? It's not that you're a bad person or anything, it's just the next time someone does something stupid, I don't want to lumped in with that. Even if they do something that puts the community in good light, I may still want to stand by my own accomplishments and not feed off someone elses name. I'm not a part of any community, I just happen to like something that other people like as well.
