THAT was impressive. Any doubts I had about this sequel are gone...although I'm still skeptical about whether it can form a twist as surprising as the first Bioshock.
Hahahaha, you sir are amazing.EHKOS said:Oh boy oh boy oh boy I swear if I see Rick Astley's face I will go out an murder 50 kittens.
Sadly, as much as I'd like not to, I have to agree. The movements, animations, and the "just too perfect circumstances" made me feel like most, if not all, of what was happening was a scripted cinematic. Don't get me wrong. I'd love for someone to find a way to make a game that looks and feels the way the trailer indicates, but I just don't think this game will be the case.GoGo_Boy said:Looks like every second of this is scripted which is fine but won't represent gameplay for the most part (unless it's very short, that is).
You're mixing up the order of events, this is after bird guy was knocked off the platform and the swarms stopped.dashiz94 said:Did you not see the horde of crows that made it incredibly impossible to see?
That sir, is an awesome avatar!Caligulove said:Wow... That evoked pretty much the same reaction and intrigue that I felt when I saw those first Bioshock trailers and gameplay. Was probably the point, and it worked brilliantly. Definitely looking forward to this one as I skipped over Bioshock 2.

I'd have to disagree, if only because it wouldn't be trying to sell itself as a whole new game. It'd be "more BioShock," which is precisely what Infinite is. That's fine if you're happy with that, but let's not pretend that Levine and co. are doing anything but painting their wheel.Tom Goldman said:If it had used the same gameplay but was set in Rapture, I doubt there'd be any criticism over it "being BioShock again."
Oh, please. The similarities between SS2 and Bioshock are obvious and, admittedly, pretty thick, but that's just being silly. Even if you accept that Levine is essentially making the same game over and over again (which, to a good degree, I do), there's just no reasonably way you can say that the progression from SS2 to Bioshock is even in the same ballpark as Bioshock to Bioshock Infinite. The Splicers are the same, the Big Daddies are the same, the magic potions that let you electrocute people standing in puddles are the same, the alternate historical settings are the same (yes, they're different, but they're the same in that they're all based on unconventional politics and philosophies taken to a destructive extreme)... It may be cool and it may be fun, but it's Bioshock 3 and I don't see it as being noteworthy for anything more than that.Arcanist said:And BioShock was a reskinned System Shock 2. Your point?
It's called BioShock. It's not painting itself as a totally new game. It's taking BioShock's really fun gameplay themes, improving upon them, implementing them upon completely new technology, and giving us a totally new world to explore and story to experience to boot. What else could you want from a sequel? Would you criticize Halo: Reach for being "Halo" again? I'm just confused as to why Irrational shouldn't be able to develop new products based on a gameplay theme they created, just as Batman or any other piece of media can be re-imagined and improved upon. If it wasn't called "BioShock," I could see a criticism there, but last time I looked at the title it was, and if you think it's just "BioShock" with different graphics, you haven't really been paying attention to the changes Irrational has already told us about.Andy Chalk said:I'd have to disagree, if only because it wouldn't be trying to sell itself as a whole new game.
