He's right, it wasn't the fact that it was a city at the bottom of the ocean that made it interesting. It was the art direction, the Objectivist viewpoints, and the fact that something sinister was going on behind the scenes that made Rapture memorable. If those three major points didn't apply to Rapture, they might as well have named the city "Atlantis." And your Axl Rose ego comment is just plain stupid, his ego is what turned me off the band completely and makes me hate the band even more.

Then why did they feel the need to do the exact same thing over again but with the word "sea" changed to "sky". Being under the sea wasn't the best bit about Rapture, you're right there and that was my point - Bioshock could be set in the middle of London and still capture that essence that made Rapture so interesting. Which is why I think Columbia is missing the point of the original so much. At this point it's "another city in a weird place" rather than a collection of attitudes and ideologies drenched in atmosphere.
That and the fact that it looks absolutely ridiculous.
As for Axl Rose, that's simply a matter of you love it or you hate it and we've clearly fallen on opposite lines.

Just goes to show that with the right kind of atmoshere, and game can be truly scary. Even if it takes place in broad daylight.

Just... WOW.

The art style. The voice acting. The kinetics of the combat. So many little details, wonderful concepts, amazing... EVERYTHING. Something about this game, even more so than Bioshock, looks just so amazingly fresh, my hype is higher than it was FOR COMING OUT OF THE WOMB.

Not sure I can handle it being so blue-sky and bright. Its like I'm watching a horror mod for a Fable game.

EDIT: OK, now I've watched the whole of it.

WHOA. It's like a Final Fantasy world with balls. OK, I'm liking it, but a) I kind of wish it'd been an independent IP rather than Bioshock, because the world is awesome and the gameplay stunning without mentioning Bioshock once and I can only suspect that the connection to the previous games will be muddled at best, and

b) Is this REALLY going to be the gameplay? Because a lot of that felt staged. And even if it wasn't, if the whole game is that full of setpieces surely most of the game will be glorified QTEs. And

c) Obviously the new plasmids look awesome, but are they overpowered? Seems as though that's taking the edge away from the bad guys, even the big ones, if they can be so easily dispatched by apparently calling upon Mother Nature herself to solve your issues.

The only niggle, is that the winged attacker is a uber big daddy. It has portholes which light up red and it has the exact same sounds. Hopefully they won't try and link this new one with the first series. Least I hope they don't...

Which has got me suspicious... all this gameplay footage for a game 2 years away? I wonder if its a gameplay demo that they've released almost as a totally separate concept piece, before the real work starts. Which means the final game may not look anything like this.
