Andy Chalk said:Atkinson Dismisses Game Consultation as "Unfair"
He predicted that the process will show high levels of support for a "mature" videogame rating but suggested that such a result would be pretty much invalid because the average Australian won't care enough to speak out about it.

Uh no. It won't make it invalid because the process is most likely aimed at gamers anyway. And there will probably be at least 1 gamer who thinks that Australia will be fine without an R-18 rating.
Oh so you've decided to make this about you have you? Yeah that's not unfair at all(!) You're just gonna keep at it until the kind of people who play call of duty online (relax CoD fans I play CoD online as well) decide to be nice to you. Mike, please, grow up. Not all gamers are violent arseholes like the people who threaten your family. Most of us are very reasonable people and the people who threatened you probably don't really mean it and wouldn't have done so without the convenience of online anonymity.Andy Chalk said:Atkinson Dismisses Game Consultation as "Unfair"
Atkinson said that it's unlikely he'll give up his crusade against R18+ videogame ratings, particularly while gamers continue to abuse and threaten him and his family. "I'll consider changing my mind about all this when the gaming community decide to behave in a civil fashion and apologize for the threats to me and my family," he continued."But I don't plan to back down from the fight. I started my mission and I plan to finish it."

The real, sensible reason that gamers want an R-18 is because, without it, the best game of all time game could get banned because of controversial material. Videogames aren't strictly kids stuff anymore. Most gamers are over the age of 18.
If you continue to oppose the R-18 rating even if the hate-mailers apologize then the death threats will multiply and one or two nutjobs may even try to make good on their threats. Why don't you just let Australian gamers have their R-18 rating and not only do you get out of a ton of bother but there's just the slightest chance that some people will come to respect you.
