BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'll admit, whoever left the note is an idiot, but this article gave me an image of the stereotypical pasty white kids bashing atkinson with game case's and setting up console traps.

This'll have me entertained for a good half an hour :D

You've seen the kind of material that R18+ gamers are circulating. I don't know who sends me this filthy material, but I get my electoral office email spammed. About two o' clock in the morning, I got a threatening note from a gamer shoved under my door. I feel that my family and I are more at risk from gamers than we are from the outlaw motorcycle gangs who also hate me.

The outlaw motorcycle gangs haven't been hanging around my doorstep at 2AM. A gamer has.
The motorcycle gangs haven't had their fun sucked by one single man. There is a difference.

Really Mr Atkinson? Its starting to get a little pathetic now, what next? What others things are gamers worse than? Politicians? No one will believe you.

If I were him I would be worried about biker gangs beating him up to prove they're more macho after that comment...

Not that I think that the guy is any less of a tool, but people who physically threaten him really, REALLY don't make our side look good.
Absolutely not. We should be out to show people that he has got completely the wrong idea about us, not proving him right and giving him ammunition.

That said, if I saw a biker gang coming towards me with loaded shotguns, I'd shit myself. I doubt they would be scared off if I proclaimed myself a gamer.

Wha? Did he...really...I...seriously?

What the fuck Atkinson? If you weren't such a whiny ***** then people might agree with you. Instead of blindly disregarding everything you don't agree with like a 7 year old, start giving things a second glance and start analysing what really should be banned like a RATIONAL HUMAN BEING, then people might actually start sending you mail that only suggested mild dislike.
hed still complain about a mild dislike letter then ban letter sending

So did a video game steal his high school sweet heart or somethig. This is getting ridiculous. Suggesting the MMORPG player down the road is more a threat than the dude in leather with a buck knife is just silly.

Hell Atkinson, if you're going to start flat out lying about gamers, just say Hitler learnt war fare by playing Call of Duty, it would be a more logical statement.

I can't remember the exact staement, but it's something like "Games don't make serial killers, they just make serial killers more creative."

I know what I'm coming as for Hallowe'en this year. And I would fly out to Australia, just to hear your opinion on my costume Mr Atkinson.

A Gaming Cosplayer. I shall dress up as Sephiroth, with actual Masamune.

Thank God I don't live in Australia. If I did, I'd have to go hurt this man with my feeble punches which make the manliest biker look like a pussy.

I'm proposing a serious measure but...

Would 4chan come in use here? We can use them for good!

I wonder if biker gangs will take that as a challenge and start harassing him more. It would certainly take the heat off of gamers in Australia for a little bit.

Every time I see that picture it reminds me of Bubba from Mad Max, but aged a couple of decades.

Maybe that's why he doesn't feel threatened by biker gangs, it would certainly explain why he's a complete wacko.

I'm not sure if I should be impressed, disappointed or insulted that he compares gamers to roving packs of bikers. Atkinson is clearly delusional and paranoid to the extreme. He obviously has some deep rooted problems with video games, like maybe he was molested by the NES or robbed at gunpoint by Sega CD. I am impressed that he still takes such a hard stance on mature games when I'm sure Australia has other more pressing problems at hand. What's next? Maybe Mikey will find a hidden plot between game developers and Al-Qaeda to poison the pristine youth of Australia. LOL

yes outlaw biker gangs don't go poping a letter under the door at 2am because they do things that really are agenst the LAW and do hurt people, gamers on the other hand have got 1 living peace of evil telling them they cant play stuff because he dos'nt like it.

Think that makes my point.

Huh... looks like Yahtzee posting Atkinson's e-mail address has had some effect after all...

But seriously "In games, the player is actually performing the action"... no... no... not even remotely true.

On consoles with more traditional controllers like the Xbox or PS3, the inputs you are making into the two-handed controller have absolutely no connection to the actions your in-game character is performing... it doesn't matter WHAT the actions are... there is absolutely no connection.

The mouse and keyboard (my preferred method) of the PC, are even further removed from this... as no matter how immersive a game can get... if you step back a minute... you'll realize that you are using the same hardware interface that contract lawyers are using to produce their boring trite. (No offense meant if you are a contract lawyer)

Even the Wii is pretty far removed from the action. If you aren't using any attachments, you have no real sense of how heavy the weapon your character is using is, and even if you are using an attachment... that only gives you a vague sense of what its like to hold the weapon... the attachments still don't even remotely feel like or give a proper sense of what its like to wield the actual weapon (whatever it is).

And given the fantastical nature of some of the more violent games...

Umm... tell me... does anyone have a pair of the Blades of Chaos hanging about in their garage?
Does anyone have that weird-ass looking sword from Soul Caliber in their closet somewhere?

No. I didn't think so.

Damn, he must be scared people slipping well thought out notes under his door just so they can catch his attention for 2 secondes. It was the nasty gamers using their powers of insomnia against him.
