Damn, he looks smug. He looks so, so smug. I want to...punch him...

I already disliked the man, but not only do I have to listen to - as appropriate as it is - Australian gamers complain about him, but now I hate him just for his smug face.

Can we Banhammer him? Just, you know, ban him from the world? Kinda like we do with trolls.

Because, seriously, this guy is starting to get over the top ridiculous.

There comes a point where anyone with a shred of intelligence much realize that even if they support Atkinson, he is waging a war against video games. Video games which he seems are irrelevant and the majority doesn't care about, yet he spends all this time focusing on trying to discredit them and demonize them. It's like not ordering a meal because you think the restaurant sucks, then arguing at length about how bad it is--

Oh my God Atkinson is the personification of stupid internet message boards.

God help us.
Maybe that's where he problem comes from. Maybe we created this monster with our trolling and our rickrolls. He is the monster of our Frankenstein!

This is good, as i've just bought a leather jacket. Gonna go down to the diner on the motorway in HOME at night and hang out with the other gamer gangs. TWO FINGERS TO THE LAW! TAKE THIS NOTE UNDER YOUR DOOR AND LIKE IT!

I can imagine him shitting his pants whenever some Girl Scouts come over to try and sell him something, then.

I want to know what game he's talking about. The one where you can actually behead someone. I think I want to play that game.

I think it's funny how the people who are constantly barraging him with hateful emails and threats think that they are going to get somewhere. It only proves his point further; you're only hurting yourselves. But the strange thing is that he thinks that I, a 100 pound scrawny nerd who spends countless hours on the internet rather than hanging out with friends, am more threatening than 250 pound biker guys who could pound me into a pulp without even a scratch. Oh boy, do I love logic.

"With interactive games, people are actually doing things," Atkinson said. "One can go to the cinema and see someone beheaded, and one sees it as a passive viewer.
While he is indeed a asshole, he does have a point there.
Actually not particularly. Because you are a passive viewer, and you are relaxed while watching it, it has a much higher chance of getting into your subconscious, which has a lot more impact on your choices made in a stressful situation or when you're angry or excited. Videogames go into the conscious part of your brain, and decision making and judgement is put into effect before the memory is stored.
Not only that, but pushing on a joystick and pressing a button does not, in any way, give you any training or practice into decapitating anyone, or any of the other violent things done in games. I would honestly have to say that Duck Hunt is more dangerous than a lot of games nowadays because of the simulation gun used for it and the fact that your shooting ducks means that the risk is low.

So let me get this straight. He accuses people who PLAY GAMES inside A HOUSE that they're worse than BIKERS, who are OUTSIDE and can hurt a person way more than a gamer ever could? Yeah, he's crazy. It's beyond doubt now, he is just plain mentally ill.

This. The sort of people doing this sort of thing and posting threats of physical violence are pretty much proving his point. Good work, guys.

Don't get me wrong, I think the bloke's as much of a pillock and a tyrant as everyone else, but he might have a point - all the bikers I've known have been thoroughly nice and law-abiding guys who'd do anything for anyone. I couldn't say that about all the gamers I know.

Well as Bikers tend to have some sort of code that they live by and have some semblance of respect. Us gamers are loners, we have no society and actually display many of the psychological traits it requires to be a serial killer.

We are the real threat after all we learn how to murder steal and live lives of utter sin and moral corruption without the side effects. Bikers who kill go to prison they can OD on drugs etc this is a self limiter on the outlaw baker population. Gamers on the other hand have no natural predators except for Keith Vaz and he will be too busy having his moat cleaned and getting Britain into illegal wars to be of any real threat.

Its in revelations People!
