Turtle Beach HPA2 with Creative Sound Blaster Extigy DAC.
I use them for 5.1 Blurays and games.
True Discrete Dolby Digital that (IMHO) out performs Astros & Trittons.

When I'm out and about I use the standard iPod headphones, but when I'm sitting around or doing homework while listening to music, I use Bose noise cancelling headphones.

Looking at these posts make me feel like either a cheap fucker or a minimalist.... but these are great for what I use them for.

I had a part just the same which I thourght were awsome untill they faild on me...then I had to accept that earbuds inevitably fail every few months (though to be fair I do tend to be rough on them)

Im curious to see how long my $80 sennheiser earbuds last....

I love my Razer Orcas even if they are lime green, especially considering I got them dirt cheap on amazon.for on the go use with my Zune I have some cheap Skullcandy buds they aren't great but they work and they were within my nonexistent budget.

Bah my earbuds have lasted me for a few years... but now they're kind of in terrible condition. But I don't think my rather cheap looking earbuds were in a poor enough condition to replace within a few months, what do you do to them? o__O
I dont know..I think because Ii often did stuff with them (my Ipod/earplugs on) and also dragging them in and out of a handbag (god that statment feels so out of place here) I think it had somthing to do with the cord being yanked around, partically where it connects to the jack

I probably wouldnt have bought expensive earbuds, but I had a gift card and was curious to see it they were noticibly different/worth it (before I stuck with a partcular set of TDK ones about $30 which were really good for the price)

Beats by Dre. I came off $4 earplugs to these and I was pretty darn amazed.

Although from what I heard (and agree with) they probably aren't top of the line and are overpriced. Your paying for the design and the name. Audiophiles look elsewhere.

Still, they are the best looking headphones I have ever seen.
It's not that they are particularly bad, they just have WAY too much bass and someone who hasn't used balanced headphones wouldn't know that their music is sounding wrong.

Sennheiser are the only brand to use.

Once you hear the quality - everything else seems like cheap toys - especially trendy brands like skull candy which sell on image - not sound quality.

Westone 3. $350, totally worth it. Aside from being 100% viable hearing protection - I used them while firing a .50 caliber machine gun and a M240b machine gun, they work - they're comfortable for hours of use, they look good, they come in this awesome little case that fits right in the calf pocket of my pants... Oh, and the sound is fantastic, but that's just a given.

The cheapest ones possible. They always break and I'm not really fussed about sound quality. Sometimes I get a pair of Sennheisers when there's a discount, but I usually stick with extreme cheapness.

I don't know what you people do to your buds, but I've had a pair of cheap-ish Creatives for like 4 years. What finally killed them was getting my 30 pound luggage tangled in them and dropping it, resulting in the whole thing dangling from one earbud. Even so it's just a loose contact, easy to fix.

I have (and have had for years) a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ headphones. Excellent sound quality and were perfect for my Audio Engineering course. Not cheap though.

I'm with cheap bastard. ^_^

New headphones are so expensive but you can't try them before you buy. I love the big ear-covering type but hate the pressure they exert on my skull. I like the earbuds ability to slip in and they tend to stay in place.

Any 'lol whut crap sound' remarks mean nothing to me because I've got nothing to compare them to. Ignorance is handy.

Very good and comfy overall but these don't block ANY backround noise so you can't really hear low end bass.

No idea. I just got the only clip on headphones I could find. Cost me $15, but at least I don't have to worry about finding a pair that can fit on my head properly, without having them dig the hell out of my ears.

Before that, though, I cycled through the $2 earbuds you can buy at petrol stations. Can't say I've noticed much of a change, except that these ones certainly last longer.

Up until a week ago, I was using these except the left one was cut off.

Now, I'm using pretty much the same thing, except it has annoying squishy things on the end and it can answer phone calls.

They suck. A small breeze will make them fall out of your ears.

For on-the-go use on my iPod, I use a pair of Philips SHE9503 earbuds. Great treble, decent bass and good sound isolation. The left bud died a few days ago, but since it lasted quite long for earbuds (just over an year), I'm replacing them with a pair of the same model.

At home, I rather use speakers than headphones. My set is a 2.1 Logitech X-240. Great sound, and I bought it for about half the regular price! :D
