I liked it. It's not as good as Up. But NOTHING is as good as Up. NOTHING.
I'm with you there. It was a great movie in it's own right, but Avatar has nothing on Up. No amount of deforestation is going to tug at the heartstrings as the first 15 minutes of Up.

well, there are a lot of avatards out there, apparently.

Although now there's one less.
Avatards? Did you make that up, or is what they are just universally called?
I've heard and read it in a few places. Most be common.

Well to be honest, I came up with it completely on the spot, I've never seen it anywhere, although if any more people like [link]http://www.avatar-forums.com/general-avatar-forum/43-ways-cope-depression-dream-pandora-being-intangible.html[/link] that appear, it might catch on.

Well certainly there are people who take things to the extreme when something 'new' comes out (Referring to the stunning 3D effects).
Especially when it comes to escaping their 'mundane' lives. Just Look at MMOs and drug addictions.

Although I wonder why they'd want to visit Pandora, when everything there seems designed to kill you.
You can't even breathe on the planet.
People are weird.

Anyways, your original post just seemed like a dig at people who liked the movie (I enjoyed it).
That's really what I was addressing.

As far as crazy Avatar based stories go I'd rank that right up there with the people getting depressed about Pandora not existing.

Wait wait. There is a stupid name for the people who enjoyed the film?
Seriously?

What ever happened to:
"Hey I saw Avatar!"
"Oh yeah? I did too. I didn't like it very much."
"Really? I enjoyed it! I thought it was a fun movie!"
"Neat. Wanna go grab some ice cream?"
"Sure!"

End Scene!

Geez, people. Get over yourselves.
You like it or you don't, but let other people enjoy, or not, the film in peace.
Sheesh.
Ah to live in Canada. Shame that doesn't transfer to Gaming conversations.

"Hey Ryan! I heard that you bought Modern Warfare Two!"
"Yep!"
"What do you think!"
"Didn't like it. Battlefield 1943 gave me a better gaming experience..."
"YOU DONT LIKE COD? FUCKING IDIOT!"
"Why am I friends with you again?"

End Scene.

And to be honest... I loved Avatar.

But god... I still dont think re-hashing Pocahontas in Space deserves 1.5 Billion box office.

And then making it into a trilogy.

Nope, I've no problem with people who simply liked it, but people who liked it that much deserve to be called avatards.

Over excitement?

I was bored throughout that whole goddamn movie.
It was... the exact opposite for me.
People on the Escapist seem to have a thing for hating anything anywhere near related to the "mainstream."

Though I feel that way about music, I thought Avatar was an extremely good movie.
(Not to pick on you individually.)

I loved Avatar it was awesome, I thought making it in 3D was fantastic.

I was really engrossed in the movie during the whole time and I ended up crying in the end it was that good ^__^

Is it wrong that I giggled when I read that the died from over-excitement from watching Avatar, and still can't stop as I type these words?

Note: Now it's full blown laughter.
