I think I'd have to side with Axl on this one to be honest. If this is all true according to Axl then Activision is being their stereotypical prick selves and screwing over anyone possible. If you have a written agreement and then go back on it then you should expect a celebrity to get pissed and want to sue you for as much as possible. 20$ Million Dollars though? I think thats too much money even though we all know that Activision could more than likely afford it.
When you hear about someone suing for 20 million it basically means they're looking to settle for a 1/5 or 1/4 of the original value. It's rare that it goes above 1/2.
I'm completely aware and stand by my original statement :) While alot of us struggle to meet ends meet with minimum or slightly above minimum wage jobs it's nice to know that celebrities can haggle for enough to buy their next tropical island or harem of hookers.

Hasn't he got enough money already?
I'm usually never on Activision's side, but this stunning performance of asshole-ism is just too much to overlook.

That's...a weird angle to argue. There was a time when Axl was the leader of one of the biggest bands in the world, and if someone's indeed capitalizing on his past success, there's no reason he shouldn't get a cut. Guitar Hero 3 made 115 million bucks in it's first week.

I love Axl Rose. I know he's crazy, arrogant and just generally a dick to anyone in his way, but I cannot help but love him. If they did agree, as he claims, that Slash wouldn't be in GH3, then he has a right to argue that they broke the agreement. If not, then it's just another hilarious act on the part of a mad genius. Everything he does is comedy gold, and live he still has the power over the entire room. Once he gets there of course.

Hmmmm I'm on his side just so Activision can loose some money. Besides, it's not really a big deal and the game is already out.

Err... Thats clearly not him...

OT: A little late but I guess Axl has been busy between being in isolation for a few months and now the big world tour... But lawsuits do sometimes take time.

Im gonna have to side with Axl in this one... He said they could use the song if they didn't use Slash. And then they put him on the cover and in the ads. And the thing is, Slash isn't the badguy in this one, its Activision, they made the cock-up.
As it is a Guitar hero game, Slash should have been in it, he is one of the greatest guitarist ever, but they could have just left out any GNR songs... Instead they decided to piss off Axl Rose... And that is something you really shouldn't do...

We may not associate Axl with GnR anymore, but we certainly will associate him with a very large twat.

I didn't realize the hate for Axl was quite so great. If he actually has written proof of that agreement, he's 100% within his rights to sue here. Everyone here hates him so much that they'd instantly dismiss a legitimate lawsuit against freakin' Activision? My mind is blown.

I'd say it's likely he's is telling the truth. Activision is well known for screwing over everyone it works with so there's no reason to immediately assume they didn't screw over Axl too. I still think he's a dick who's talent long ago ran out, but he can still occasionally be in the right.

As much as I dislike Axl, anything that costs Activision money is a good thing, right?

Now to await Kotick's inevitable douchebaggery filled response.

I think Axl's missed the point here... Eeeeeeeverybody hates him and everyone associates the good bits of Guns n Roses with Slash, primarily because Axl's a jumped-up diva whose talent only exists in his head. He's not trying to prevent "confusion", he's trying to break the association between Guns n Roses and Slash because that's where the talent lies, and they've been dire since his departure.

I mean really, who bought Guns n Roses albums for their awesome vocals... anyone?

C'mon, don't be shy...

No?

Exactly.

From a personal standpoint, I quite like seeing him get screwed over (and am saddened that he might win this) because he constantly screws over people that pay to see him (refer to his latest tour) and, when all's said and done, is basically a jackass.

The court will decide whether he's right or not. I don't see it, but I haven't seen the legal documents and I'm no lawyer.

I feel sorry for the employee though. Imagine for a moment you are a huge Axl Rose and Guns 'n Roses fan... and then having to be the one to tell him. Poor sod.

Axl is a loser, and I hope and pray Activision finds some loophole that can be used to not only get his case thrown out, but to prove on legal record how much of an over-rated hyperactive spot monkey he is. The only way it could be better would be if after the verdict, as he begins to slink away to console himself with groupies and blow, Kotick ran up behind him and brained him with a steel folding chair.
