Okay so I recintly made the transistion from MW2 to Bad comapny. So far I'm doing alright, level six in three days, hooray.
But I seem to end up getting shot in the back quite a lot, so I was wondering, any tips or tactics the escapist finds useful?

I try to avoid getting shot in general.Good tip for real life too.Also,shotguns.

You can't do anything if the others have even a bit more of cooperation going on between them in battlefield games.

*EDIT* oooh Why didn't I look for this sooner, see this is why shotguns are great in BFBC2, their range is alot more realistic than in MW2

Yeah that seems to really make or break a game. What's so great about shotguns?

-Don't open fire unless you have a clear shot at the enemy, theres less bullet damage than MW2
-Use all the kits. Don't underestimate any of them, for they are all deadly.

I have more advice, but I need to know what system you play on, to get the controls right.

The Saiga 12 Shotgun is pretty damn good at room clearing. The MP-443 Gratch is probably the best/second best pistol, very high mag capacity, and it's better in every way to the M9. The Colt M1911 is good, but has a very low mag size. The Revolver is.. alright. A bit innacurate though, and has a long reload for a low amount of bullets (6).

Sniping all depends on how you want to play. If you're slow and calculated, by all means choose a bolt action rifle like the M24. Very good for counter-sniping, that one. But sniping takes some practice, due to the bullets being affected by gravity at longer ranges. The T-88 is a very good anti infantry sniper, due to it's semi-auto fire rate. Just don't fire too quick.

The VSS Vintorez make a very handy rifle with an ACOG x4 scope, and it's totally worth waiting to unlock. Full Auto, good damage and accuracy, also nigh on completely silent.

Chopper piloting is relatively easy, but hard to master. I'm not exactly an awesome pilot, but don't stop moving in it and mix your flight pattern up a bit. If you fly in a simple circle around the current enemy base, that's all very good for your Gunner, but Anti-air Engineers will notice a pattern and shoot rockets so you fly into them. I know because it's a working tactic I use. And don't go too fast.

The Medic class is awesome, always leave heal kits for your team and revive when you can, along with giving support fire with your LMG. Medic's are the real squad player class, in my opinion, so always be there for your squad if you're in one, and I highly recomend you do go in one.

One more thing, if you are having trouble levelling up a class, change weapons to a shotgun and be a close range man, it works well if none of the current weapons are doing the trick for you.
Ok I seem to have got a little carried away here...

It's on xbox I play, I usually switch between all the classes, but right now I'm trying to earn my X4 scope for my recon class.

Just keep on playing the medic until you unlock the M60 and Magnum ammo (it may take a while but you'll get there), congratulations, you now have everything you'll ever need in the game (except maybe jumping in a helicopter with someone and shelling the fuck out of the other team's spawning area).

Hey man, I LOVE bf:bc 2 such an amazing MP game.

I played the demo to death and thought i was quite good at it, asa soon as i got the game i had the same problem you are describing, for some reason in the first week or so i couldnt stop getting shot in the back, got very anouying.

I find that over time this significantly decreases. Be it your increased skill level, increased battlefield craft and your knowledge of the maps so you dont just walk out intoa road and get shot all the time.

Best advice i would give you is to perhaps slow your movement down, in other words take it slower when moving on a position. Think about where your exposed etc. Of course u dont want to crawl around map but perhaps dont go running around as quick as you can, and try looking around for people lying in wait and pickt them off.

I think over time when ur level increases and you get scopes etc for your machine guns and your knowledge of the maps and how the games usually play out you will stop getting shot in the back anywhere near as much.

Also perhaps mixing it up class wise, or trying using vehicles, tanks etc if you get enraged at some point just to break it up.

In the mean time enjoy 8)

Well for one thing in Battlefield games shotguns are effective at a great range.Haven't tried them in BC2 though, but I still recommend. Also, you shoot you reload.

Treat it as a stealth game. Hide in bushes until the enemy has passed then take them out from behind.

Never try taking on more than two enemies at a time unless you have the element of surprise.

use a couple of C4 to make an instant foxhole.

either get in a squad with a medic or make sure one is around cause they can bring you back to life and who doesnt like not dying? also always be on the move or a place you know no one looks to stop getting shot in the back. lastly remember that it is destructable environment and if your in a building it could be gone at any second.

On the PC at least shotguns have been significantly nerfed as they were more or less an "I win lol" gun

Shotguns are AMAZING in this game, as well as balanced. Also since your from CoD im going to be rude and declare you quick scope. Well dont it doesnt work, people try it a lot and they just get gunned down. Also dont not fly a chopper unless you know how to. I hate bad piolets, and its not as hard as it seems. If you snipe while attacking, dont camp the whole time near your base. Actually move up so people can spawn on you closer, to the base. On deffence always use a tracer dart unless your a sniper, so you can trace any tank, chopper, jeep. Aim for the head much better. If your trying to shoot someone acros the map, and not a sniper, shoot in controoled bursts. But if you are a sniper, lead your shots. When the bomb is armed ALWAYS, try to dissarm it, since most people tend to run away from the crate when that happens. Finally if your attacking, and a crate is in a building the can be completely destroyed ( it will take some time untill you find which kind can ) blow the support for the building and it will crush the crate. Thats mostly all you need to know.

Yeah, experiment with every weapon until you find one that fits your play style, or you just love. For example I do mid-long range with a VSS /w x4 ACOG in Recon class, acting as more of a Marksman/assault class than a true sniper because of it's full auto firing and accuracy.

The F2000 is reeeeaally fast at firing, so I don't recommend it for mid-long ranges, use it more like an SMG, that's where it really shines.

The M93R pistol is good, but you run out of ammo really quickly. It's damn fun to shoot, too.
Use the Motion grenade/mine/thing as a Recon class, and throw it around the MCOM stations (In Rush, anyway) because it really, really does help a lot for the whole team. Or throw it in a main road or someplace enemies are very likely to pass.

Resupply and drop health packs in areas where it seems like teammate are holing up to defend/snipe.

And as has been said, BFBC2 is much slower than like every other FPS, so don't run in the open unless you really need to. Try and weave in and out of cover as you advance, or go along the sides.

Also, if you think there's an area where hostile enemies are likely to be, hit "Select" a lot. It's very useful, it basically shows up enemies and puts a red mark over them, showing them on the screen and mini-map too, and is visible ot everyone. Also works for vehicles, and they have a vehicle shaped marker on them instead. That tactic is good for just sweeping an area, because unlike MW2, it's much harder to see guys, and there will be times where they are too well hidden for you, and you will get shot by them.

Make sure the enemies are DEFINATELY all gone before you reload. The number of times I've taken someone out, reloaded, and turned a corner to see his chum wondering what all the commotion is about, and I'm still mid-reload while he's got his XM8 ready.

Go to GameFAQs, for one thing...

Also, learn to spot enemies, even if your team mates kill them you get points. Use shotguns with slugs and magnum ammmo only, otherwise they're worthless. The M1 is okay, the M14 sucks, don't even bother using it.

Pay attention to the mini-map for enemies team mates spotted.

OK, I don't know all the buttons for the XBOX controller but the equivalent of the PS3's 'select' button is your friend. Its whatever button you hold to bring up the scoreboard. When you see an enemy, aim at them and tap that button a few times, and an orange triangle will appear over that enemy. That marks them on the map and for your team to see, and you'll get XP if someone kills them.

Pressing that button on a friendly player will make you call for a Medic, or Ammo, or Repairing from an Engineer. You can also get the attention of vehicles if you want a ride.

You can use it on the M-COM stations in Rush, calling your squad to attack or defend the position.

I might be very wrong with this, since I don't know the layout of a 360 controller too well.
Someone correct me if I'm making a mistake.

EDIT: Thanks, Captain Pirate. It's the 'Back' button.
