Kasabian? Overlooked?
That's hard to believe but I'll take your word for it.
Anyway I've yet to meet someone who listens to The Evolutionaries.
This is in my area though, if you said Kasabian, most people would go WAh?

Probably a majority of what I listen to is overlooked aside from the Beatles, both in the mainstream and here where you all seem to be pretty big metalheads.

overlooked bands, hmmmm....

Strung Out: punk/alternative
Fair to Midland: ?
He is Legend: rock?
Queens of the Stone Age: rock

I only say QOTSA b/c not many of the people I know listen to them or have even heard of them, otherwise I'd say they are well known. And should be for that matter. Josh Homme is one of my favorite musicians. His resume includes: Kyuss, QOTSA, and Them Crooked Vultures.

I listen to a lot of 80s hardcore punk, I could list tons of bands that very few people have heard of. Actually, in general, I just listen to a lot of local/underground junk

/end pretentious rant

Tool is hardly overlooked, I think.
I really wasn't quiet sure about Tool, I don't know many people that actually listen to em but I know their pretty large.
I suppose they're more of a niche band when compared to some of the other big acts out there. I always assumed they were bigger, though.

Two bands that I think are rather criminally overlooked are Cynic and God Is An Astronaut. Cynic play a sort of extreme metal/jazz hybrid, while God Is An Astronaut play instrumental rock.
Cynic is good. Don't think I've listened to God is and Astronaut yet, although I remember a friend recommending me too.

Here's a few good bands that not many really know about.

These are some Belgian bands, so I don't really know how popular they are in other countries.

Wow, I didn't realize the lead singer of Agonist was a girl until I saw her eyes and shirt. Sexy! :D

I like all of those songs. Nice to meet someone with similar tastes in music. It's always great to have someone suggest new music, and actually like it.

I'm going to say Fear Factory and Monster Magnet, but that may just be in my little corner of the world.

Yeah her voice is incredible and you're not the first to be a little shocked when I've shown them that song. :p

You also have impeccable taste in music and I'm glad you liked them :D

Angel Witch - Hells yes, the s/t 25th anniversary edition is an essential NWOBHM record.
Queensryche - I own ALL the albums and have seen them live. Definitely among my all time favourites.
Anvil - Saw them live, have the documentary ordered from ebay. Worth it for their story alone.
Overkill - How can dudes that old thrash that hard? They've just signed a multi album contract FFS! If only they were coming to Perth on their Aus tour.
Blind Guardian - Eh, the best known power metal band. But the general public doesn't know the genre exists.
Blitzkrieg - Fark yes Sir. I have the last three studio albums and the live album. Anything else is studipdly hard to come by on CD. Man, I want the 'A Time of Changes - Phase One' compilation very badly. Oh, and 'Excessive Force' has got to be one of the most METAL songs ever recorded.
Diamond Head - Every serious metal fan knows them. I have several albums and I'm working on the rest.
King Diamond - I'll get into him eventually, but those vocals are an acquired taste even for a Halford fanboy.
Mercyful Fate - Ditto.
Budgie - How can anyone not love Budgie?

My favourite band constantly gets overlooked. They've been playing for 21 years now and I bet few of you have even heard of them. I keep thinking it's maybe because they don't spend enough time in one genre to gather a solid fanbase who aren't just Kiwis and some Aussies.

Anyway, I like Shihad. They always deliver quality, their live gigs are always awesome and you can tell they're a bunch of guys who love what they're doing.

Drist
Spit (too bad they broke up before ever releasing a CD)
Brain Drill (most technical psychotic metal I've ever heard)
Enslaved
and a ton of others...

Ok I have to say it....TOOL Everyone only knows A Perfect Circle because of Guitar Hero 5 and Judith. (Possibly 3 Libras....I'm not sure. I own every album by both bands)

-Eyes Set to Kill: Everyone should at least hear The World Outside and Darling by them.
-Flyleaf:Since everyone knows 'I'm So Sick' and 'Fully Alive'
-People In Planes-There really good and yet nobody knows about them.
-Falling up-There overlooked by Skillet and Thousand Foot Krutch and other christian bands.

Uh... (don't injure me) but I'll say Scar Symmetry, Diamond Head, Joy Division, August Burns Red and (maybe) The Black Dahlia Murder.

I would have to say:

I agree with the Mars Volta but they're kind of a jam band so I can see why people wouldn't like/know them.

Spark is a Diamond

I'll say AFI since the east coast where I am doesn't embrace their music too much...

Tv On the Radio - Really alternative, very beat/rhythm driven.

Enjoy!
