I'm a fan of Bastion and I trust Super Giant to create their next game with as much love and attention.

No one's ever alone. I still find it sad though that the talks about the protagonist's gender started up from page 1.

Can't you guys at least wait until the game is released?

You snipped crucial white text - I'm quite aware that I'm never alone. I read the Critical Miss comic. :p

And yeah, that is kindof sad. Slightly less so when they were talking about the game industries fear of female protagonists, but I agree that it really shouldn't be an issue that the main character happens to have breasts.

That running animation is fucking annoying. I hope to god they change it.

That said, visuals seem nice, and that song is gorgeous.

.... I never noticed that. Wow, I'm an idiot.

Well anyway, is there any bets on what kind of story this will be? Or is it too premature?

I have the feeling that it's going to be a lot more introspective than Bastion. Bastion was in it's own twisted kind of way, a save the world scenario, whereas I can't help getting a Blade Runner/Deus Ex vibe from this.

Especially amusing, seeing as you had to delete the white text in order to snip it. :p

And on the storyline, same. But I don't think we have quite enough to go on yet.

Hell yes. I loved everything about Bastion except the way the story was told, so I'm more than willing to hop into this!

Both protagonists have short, non-descript names that will likely prove more important to the overall plot than we might first suspect.
...what was so secretly important about "The Kid?"

This looks unreservedly awesome. I had zero interest in Bastion mainly for 2 reasons. I hated the narrator's voice, and it was on xbox. Otherwise it looked interesting.
It's on PC, too, Steam. If you can get past the voice. Honestly, I love Logan Cunningham's voice, but the narration put me off-kilter, too (it was like having someone read the novelization at you over your shoulder while you're trying to get immersed). Luckily for me, every other aspect of the game more than made up for it.

pretty sure "red" is a women, what with the boobs and fishnets?
Y'know, I polled a bunch of people and they all came up with the idea that Red is a dude, but if there's this much debate about it, I'm gonna change the pronouns to be more gender neutral, just to be safe.
That's interesting, because I immediately thought it was a woman. (which, judging by other comments in the thread is confirmed conclusively by a statement on the developer's website which explicitly states Red is a ).

But going on the video alone, early on we see a shot of Red that shows she appears to be wearing a short yellow dress under that jacket, (and the cut of it is typical of women's tops that are intended to show some degree of cleavage. - Not a common design for male clothing.)

Further, several of the depictions are suggestive of the style of 1920's/1930's female jazz singers, and aspects of the song in the trailer also kind of give the impression that its Red herself singing it.

All those points aside you really would've saved yourself a lot of headaches by doing some very basic research.

A direct quote from Supergiant games's blog: "In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it."

Knowing the name of the game, and the name of the developer, it took all of about 30 seconds to find this blog.
Is it really so much to expect a published article on a website to contain just a tiny bit of research to back it up?

Give the guy a break, mistakes happen. Sometimes even I miss obvious information from trailers and blogs, which can be embarassing, but isn't a crime.

Really liking that art-style. Unfortunately though, it looks like it's going to have some rather similar core gameplay to Bastion which I didn't enjoy too much in of itself. The dynamic narration system was well done but the actual combat didn't really engage me too much. Hope they're successful though.

Just want to jump in and say, as a big fan of bastion, I'm so glad it's not a sequel.

As much as I want to explore that world again and learn more about it, anything else set in that universe would totally invalidate the ending. I'm glad they're doing something they know resonates with fans and it looks like a game they have the ability to do well- with all the team learned on bastion.

This just rocketed to my most anticipated game of next year list, but please please be on steam at release this time. So many of your fans are on PC because of the humble promotions it seems a shame not to cater to them.

Is it me or is the singer in the trailer's music the same as Zia from Bastion? Would make sense, but just curious if anyone else noticed that.

I think it is the same voice...but dammit why did you have to remind me of the level you meet her on? ;_;

OT: I enjoyed Bastion, but I'll make my decision once more info comes out. Certainly intriguing though.

You must be knew here.

Back on topic, I really, really want the game. I can understand them using the same play style probably because it's cheaper then to develop a new one (copy pasta code and all that), but I hope they don't do things like the narration again, I feel that doing that will ruin it's effectiveness and uniqueness I felt when I played Bastion for the first time.

Sweet Jesus, YES! Bastion was an amazing little game, and if Transistor only gets close to it, it's gonna be great.
