Good thing they aren't charging anything for people to test the early beta build.

*Whispering*

What the hell you mean this is s full price game?
Well, that's okay. I mean, at least we will still get a single-player campaign.

*More whispering*

Well geez, next you'll be telling me that you need to be connected to the internet to play offline.

*awkward pause*

That is its greatest flaw. Why the fuck should I be online just to play the single player? Say whatever you will about Halo 5 (it is shit), but at least you could play the game offline with no issues. Not everyone is online 24/7 nor wants to be. It's part of the same reason why I chose not to get Back 4 Blood. You have to be online, even if you're doing single-player mode. Zombie Army 4 and the previous entries never force you to do this. Why can't other publishers and developers get this, and get their heads out of their asses?

To be fair to Back 4 Blood, I don't know why anyone would want to play it in single player.

To be less fair to Back 4 Blood, it's basically unplayable as a single player game because the teammate AI is absolutely terrible.

As such, being an online only game makes sense if you're only ever going to play it as a multiplayer game.

Both Left 4 Dead titles allowed people to do single player/multiplayer split-screen without being online, Back 4 Blood can do the same.

I've heard. Which is why split-screen/couch co-op should always be an option. And they should fix their fucking AI, while they are at it.

Not everyone wants to be online all the fucking time. I play games to get a breather for myself. Not to constantly be "sociable" and always playing with/against other people that aren't in the same room. It's why we got dumb bullshit with Halo Infinite's single player campaign requiring an online connection. It's why that shitty Need for Speed (2015) "reboot" got so much hate and back lash. Why the fuck should anyone be online for single player content when they are not interacting with other players?

Armake21's words still remain relevant.

The AI for Left4Dead was significantly better. They would actually try to free you when you were grabbed, or heal you when you were injured.

I agree, but unfortunately couch co-op seems to basically have died with the Xbox One/PS4 generation.

I am not enduring the curse, because I am not playing nor buying.
See this is my confusion, I have seen plenty of youtube videos of people playing the game and it seems stable enough?

The thing about those compilation of bugs on those videos is that those are like selectivily edited because for all I know those bugs don't happen ever 2 minutes or something.

The fact that they happen at all is the problem. Enough users playing a game and you are bound to see bugs here and there, but when EVERY player is reporting or experiencing bugs, that's a good indication that there is a serious problem with the game as a whole.

For example I've played nearly 250 hours of the Final Fantasy 7 remake, never in that entire playtime have i crashed or experienced anything other than a couple wierd animations with NPC characters. However people have experienced crashing and stuttering with the game. Which means that there are possible bugs with the game but are so rare that the vast majority of players isn't likely to experience them, and it's more likely that the players seeing these issues more likely have dying conoles than anything being wrong with the game itself.

But when you have something like Fallout 76, in which nobody can play for any period of time and not get bombarded with bugs and glitches, is proof that it isn't any given player's PC settings or dying console, but actually a problem with a poorly made game.

Battlefield seems to be somewhere in the middle. It's not Fallout 76 bad, but it isn't good either.

I can't speak for every single user, but if it's happening that often, then it's a problem. The ones I subscribe to, I do trust, because they have no reason to lie. One user that I've been posting, Seraphim17, had plenty of glitches during the beta and demo release. It's at a point where he can't even record the full version of the game, because of the CPU heavy resources. All he recommend is that you don't buy the game, and that you can get it for free if you have Game pass and have the EA 10-day pass. If you choose to do so.

I rarely encounter a ton of bugs in games that are supposed to be riddled with them like Bethesda’s.

I ended up skipping it. None of my BF buddies ended up getting it. The release timing is weird in that everyone is busy with work and family stuff pre-Thanksgiving and there just wasn't anything compelling about the new content. It's not really a sequel to 2142 or Vietnam WWI whatever. It's a generic battlefield sequel. The nail in the coffin was the bugs and poor reviews. It was so bad Nick said "expecially" in his review 3 times.

*Leaving EA.

I refuse to believe DICE as a studio actually exists anymore. Its just a name EA likes to pretend still has value to fans. It was the same shit with Activision and infinity ward.
Same with Bioware. I also find it kinda funny that he didn’t leave sooner because of the whole battlefront 2 debacle!

Apparently this happened with BF4 in 2014, and it's happening again with BF2042
While I think JackFrags certainly made a mistake by not making a specific video about his impressions on the game, he has been heavily criticizing the game in his livestreams (which were sponsored). Pretty unfair to just claim he's a sellout, or for some bizarre reason foist upon him the responsibility of being the "voice of the community" or whatever.

That said, yeah. This happens all the fucking time. Even 3 years after the game released, DICE was making changes to BF4 that every single person in the community knew was a bad idea. And they stuck to their guns too. Basically, we can expect specialists to stay crap and Hazard Zone to be the focus of updates even though no one wants to play it.

Just keep getting worse.

Take a peek at this guy's resume.

This guy was a fucking mobile developer. FOR CANDY CRUSH. I don't think its a coincidence that the DICE games he's worked on are Battlefront 2, BFV, and BF2042. I'm not saying a mobile developer can't become a great AAA developer, but looking at the issues DICE games have had with monetization these past few years, you can't help but be skeptical.

Is the notion still true that the last good Battlefield game was Bad Company 2 and that all games after it are garbage that lost their way of what made Battlefield a good series?

Only with irony that bad company 2 still managed to split the fan base and had tons of problems at launch. Still by comparison to today it's like the golden age of Battlefield. Lots of people also like Battlefield One, but I never managed to get into it.

Bad company 2 is my personal favorite, but a lot of people would argue that BF4 was the last one that was 100% accessible as a competitor to CSGO, Team fortress 2, and old school COD.

I think what Nick pointed out about the menus in 2042 is a prevailing fault with the BFs games post death of DICE. They just stopped being accessible. It's not easy or fun to just log on, pick a class and hop into an exciting, balanced match. That definitely died with BFBC2. Everything since has become more of a chore than a game, even when enjoyable.
