OK, I understand that SEGA is to blame for Bayonetta being cancelled and as of late they have been doing some terrible TERRIBLE things to my Valkyria Chronicles series

But to have to buy a Wii U to play the next Bayonneta since Nintendo games do NOT suite my tastes since the N64 days...

I refuse, since if anyone buy a Wii U JUST for Bayonneta I hope you can keep their attention with something other than ports since it's likely that already own another console that is NOT the Wii and that attach rate per console to be high outside the fans, I think they just alienated the family demographic somehow since its no longer just "fun" games welcomed on the console but a large number of violent ones too

And what about the Wii HUGE install base, will that be ignored and no longer supported??

Okay, if you people think this will remain exclusive, you're nuts.

Here's what will happen. They'll make a big song and dance about how its an exclusive. Then, 5 months later, Sega will announce that a port of the game with far, far more content will be made for the Ps3 and 360 next year.

Its the exact same thing that happened when Microsoft published Ninja Gaiden II. Hell, it even happened in the same genre, with another franchise obsessed with tits and ass. The only difference is that, instead of just being the Ps3 market, it will be ported to the combined fanbase of the Ps3 and 360.
Do you really think that Platinum and Sega will burn them self that way?
Neither Sony nor MS care about them. When the game was canceled neither even tried to help and finance the game. Even for exclusive rights.

And with all the news about the Sonic racing game looking, working and simply being better on the WiiU, with all the Sega executives praising Nintendo, Platinum is making The Wonderful 101 WiiU exclusive, they made few Wii exclusives...
Add to that the Mario and Sonic games, Sonic in SSB. Sega is trying to get on the good side of Nintendo.

Most Nintendo diehard fans are also Sega fans. They know where they have a sure hit in games.

People may not like Nintendo, but I don't think anyone could disagree that Nintendo is a damn great working company. I doubt Sega, now with all the financial problems they have will turn their back to Nintendo just to get few extra bucks from 2 companies that just watched the game die.

And that's only the business side. We don't know what contract they signed when accepting Nintendo's funding. Maybe they completely gave up on their rights to publish that game on any other console. Maybe it's a time exclusive until Nintendo earns it's investment back plus some extra.

But knowing Nintendo... I doubt they signed a contract that will allow Sony or MS to have anything from it.

Logically the fans of the original Bayonetta aren't going to buy a Wii U JUST to play the sequel. This is a shot in the foot of both Nintendo and Platinum Games.
*Cough*Mass Effect 2 PS3*Cough*
The original Mass Effect came out on PC as well making it multiplatform. Mass Effect 2 also was multiplatform.

Bayonetta 2 is not only exclusive, but also exclusive with a company that has never carried the franchise, which is why people are scratching their heads at the lack of logic.
What lack of logic? Buy the publishing rights to a popular franchise in order to sell them on a new game console? That seems pretty damn smart to me. But others in this thread have said that nobody who played on Nintendo Consoles would ever have a demand for Bayonetta, which I find a flimsy argument.

PC Gamers never had a chance to play Dark Souls at first, but when given the opportunity, they pounced on it like a hungry dog. PS3 Owners never had a chance to play Mass Effect at first, but when they got the chance, see where I'm going with this?

Your choice of console does not predispose you to certain preferences in games. This was a smart move by nintendo, as it brings a respected franchise back from the dead, and offers an incentive to buy their console. And it most likely will work. Those who were already going to buy a Wii-U now have a strong game waiting for them, while it will also surely draw some other players over into buying the system.

But no. Giving incentive to buy a Nintendo console is bad... or at least that's how the escapists think.

Because as we all know, Nintendo stopped all business with Capcom forever the day they ported Resident Evil 4 over, and Microsoft have yet to even speak with Tecmo after they published Ninja Gaiden Sigma II on the Ps3.

You are romanticizing this thing way the fuck too much. This isn't a group of petty school children bickering about their toys, these are businesses. They aren't gonna burn bridges because they did the smart thing.
Nintendo didn't finance the development of a Capcom game. And Capcom isn't in financial problems like Sega is. Sega is in such a financial position that would accept most condition.
The only time Nintendo financed something for Capcom was the localization of MH Tri, which is still a exclusive.

As you said, they are a business. You won't finance your main competition.

EDIT:
Now this isn't directly at you. I'm to lazy to search who wrote it. But some people make it sound like if you have a Nintendo console you won't play any game that isn't on that console.
Sorry to disappoint you, but most people have at least 2 consoles or a console and a PC. And even if they had just the Wii, that doesn't mean that they won't like Bayonetta 2.

I for one have the Wii and a PC this gen. and I can't wait to get my hands on the WiiU and Bayonetta 2.

well, i won't be getting a Wii-U, besides I thought the story of Bayonetta was sufficiently closed off in the first game to not warrant a sequel, but seeing as it may be made, it should have been a multiplatform game like the first one.

Oh Nintendo, you just ensured I'll never play Bayonetta 2. Still, good strategy, reminds me a bit of the Capcom set of games Nintendo got exclusive (still some of the best games for the system including Resident Evil 4 and Killer7). Now if only they'd give me a system with current gen graphics (and I mean current as in up with the PCs, not the current that 360 owners think is current...) and less gimmicks.

Awesome, now if I want bayonetta 2, I'll have to play it on an iPad with a control stick and buttons attached on the sides.

This can mean one of two things; either Nintendo is not going to focus on casual and family friendly games anymore, or they're going to completely fuck up Bayonetta.

Speaking as a Bayonetta fan who isn't getting a Wii U - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

HAHA! The rage in here is hilarious!

The game was cancelled, meaning no one was going to get it unless a publisher stepped up to the plate. Nintendo did, and in doing so gave people incentive to buy their new console (what is this capitalist free market madness!?!?!?!?! Don't companies know that they should share their profits!?!?!). Now people are pissed because THEIR favourite developer didn't beat Nintendo to the punch!

Well played Nintendo, well played. Still not sure I want a Wii U, but you're getting me one step closer to a purchase. I want to buy you, because I do love me some Nintendo... but just... not... there... yet! Please keep trying!

What you just heard was the stopwatch timer of how soon this game has before it's inevitably ported over to other consoles/PC.
When was the last time you saw a Microsoft game on the Playstation? Or a Sony game on the Xbox? S'NOT GON HAPPEN BRO!
