Watching the escapist's review of Bayonetta today compelled me to play a demo of it that I had from an xbox magazine demo disk. I hadn't tried it so far because, frankly, I wasn't interested, but the positive review it got here combined with its metacritic score of 90, made me want to try it.
It was, to put it bluntly, terrible. I never understood how exactly the main character was supposed to be attractive with her odd proportions and preposterous outfit/hairdo, and seeing her in action only made it worse. The combat was completely clusterfucky, and the music was so bad that I had to turn it off. I played both levels of the demo and was completely unimpressed.
My question is this. Why does everybody like it so much? A few of my friends tried the demo before me and didn't like it either, and the almost universal acclaim it's had is utterly baffling to me? Am I looking at it the wrong way, or is it just not aimed at me?
